00:00Hi there, we've started the day once again with some dense fog in places and some of
00:05that fog will continue into the afternoon. We've also got cloudy skies and fairly damp
00:11weather in the far north of Scotland, otherwise sunny spells for many another bright fine
00:16winter's day under this large area of high pressure. It's across England and Wales where
00:20we've seen those fog patches form overnight and in places, particularly across say the
00:26West Midlands, Welsh Marches, West Country, some of that fog could persist throughout
00:31much of the day. Otherwise, much of the UK seeing bright skies but for Scotland it looks
00:38like there'll be thicker cloud, some hill fog and some patchy light rain and drizzle
00:42for the west and the far north. That's tending to fizzle out though and it's in the far northwest
00:48where the mildest air is at the moment, 10 Celsius for the Outer Hebrides for example.
00:53Further south, temperatures closer to average but where we get the lingering fog, they'll
00:58struggle out of the low single figures I think. And quite quickly, temperatures dropping away
01:03overnight, another widespread frosty night for much of England and Wales and dense fog
01:08reforming, particularly this time central and eastern England where it'll be perhaps
01:13thicker and more widespread compared to recent nights. Low cloud, mist and fog across South
01:18Wales and the south and southwest once again. Some clearer spells in between but cloudier
01:24conditions for Scotland and Northern Ireland. A few light outbreaks of rain and drizzle
01:29in places keeping things generally frost and fog free in the north but where we get the
01:34coldest air further south, minus 3 to minus 5 Celsius entirely possible. And those temperatures
01:39will struggle in the morning I think because of the extensive low cloud, mist and fog.
01:44Some particularly poor visibility through the East Midlands into eastern parts of England
01:48and it's in this area where the fog could last in places throughout the day. And it's
01:53going to feel chilly where that happens and you can see the extensive cloud across the
01:57UK but some brighter skies are possible across northern and western parts, albeit with a
02:03few showers coming along at times in the north and the west. But for many it's dry, it's
02:09settled, light winds and temperatures at around average unless you're stuck under one of those
02:15persistent fog patches. Some changes to come on Saturday night as this fairly thin weather
02:22front approaches bringing a spell of rain into the northwest and then that crosses the
02:26country during Sunday. That will introduce brighter skies for the northern half of the
02:30UK on Sunday but we keep the cloudier, mistier conditions further south. It will also turn
02:35windy in the north on Sunday, particularly in the far north of Scotland with some blustery
02:40showers. We'll keep you updated on all of that of course and you can follow those updates
02:44on social media. Bye bye.
