00:00Hi there and welcome to the latest forecast from the Met Office. Warmer weather is on
00:04the way just in time for the Easter weekend but it's been a cold day for much of the northern
00:10half of the country as bands of rain move north and really they've stalled now across
00:15Northern Ireland, much of Scotland. It will stay cloudy and damp overnight in these areas
00:20as well as parts of Northern England, Wales and the South West where there will be a lot
00:24of low cloud, mistiness particularly around hills and coasts. Best of any clear spells
00:29will be towards the South East and the far North West but even where we've got clear
00:33skies the air is relatively humid so it's not going to be a frosty start. In fact a
00:38mild start for all of us on Wednesday morning but it is a grey gloomy old start out there,
00:43a lot of that low cloud, mist and fog in places. It takes some time to cheer up I think and
00:49the rain persists there across parts of eastern Scotland in particular into Northern England
00:53for a while as well so further damp weather but eventually the rain turns more showery,
00:58the most persistent stuff moves away. Keep a lot of cloud there in the North East but
01:02otherwise brighter skies, sunny spells break out and with the warmth in the atmosphere
01:08some hefty showers will also build but highs of 18-20C perhaps even 21-22C in one or two
01:17of the warmer spots in the South whilst it stays on the cold side in the far North and
01:22North East of Scotland but perhaps not quite as chilly as it has been over the last couple
01:28of days. 17C there for Glasgow and Belfast so it's warming up elsewhere across northern
01:33parts of the country. But watch out for those heavy showers in the South, perhaps even a
01:37few rumbles of thunder. They disappear as we head into the evening clearing skies fairly
01:45widely but again a lot of low cloud, mist and some fog patches form. Eastern Scotland, North
01:52East England, parts of the Irish Sea and South Coast as well but it's a mild night once again,
01:59frost free and in some places it will be a bright start to Thursday. There will be some
02:03sunshine around particularly Western Scotland, parts of the North Midlands, East Anglia and
02:08the South East and where we've got the cloud and the mist well that will lift and skies
02:13will brighten up but again as temperatures rise a few showers will break out, one or
02:19two mainly towards East Anglia, the South East, not quite as heavy or as widespread
02:25as Wednesday showers for the vast majority. Thursday is looking like a dry and bright
02:30day and temperatures are rising day by day so we're looking at mid to high teens fairly
02:35widely away from the far North and North East of Scotland with the potential for say 19C
02:41Murray Coast, 18C for Glasgow, 14C for Belfast and perhaps the low 20s in parts of the South
02:48East. It's a warm day for mid-April and it's going to feel pleasant enough with light winds.
02:55There is some rain out to the West there, that's slowing down as it approaches the UK,
03:00it runs into an area of high pressure that is forming out to the East and that sets us
03:05up for the long weekend. High pressure to the East, weather fronts trying to run in
03:10from the West, they'll bring some cloud and showers at times but on the whole for most
03:15it's warming up and it's brightening up.
