00:00Hi there. Some parts of Western UK will have got a sense of what it's felt like to be in
00:05the east during the last few weeks, waking up to a lot of low cloud. It is more extensive
00:10low cloud as we begin the afternoon compared with previous afternoons across the UK. It
00:16is tending to retreat back to the east, but naturally I think a cloudier day on the whole
00:21across the Midlands into southern parts of England, central Scotland, for example, patches
00:26of cloud as well for Northern Ireland. But once again, the thickest cloud is in the east.
00:31That's where the lowest temperatures are, just 11 to 13 Celsius on the immediate coast,
00:36inland mid-teens, but there is still some sunny spells across western parts of the UK.
00:43A cooler day, but nevertheless it's still 21, possibly 22 Celsius for parts of Wales
00:47and the south and southwest of England, 20 Celsius there for western Scotland and 22
00:52for parts of Northern Ireland. Now, through the evening, the cloud will once again creep
00:58back westwards. It's going to become a bit more widespread across the UK, perhaps not
01:03quite as widespread as the previous night, but nevertheless reaching parts of Wales into
01:07southwest England, southeast England, east Anglia, eastern parts of England, central
01:13eastern Scotland, extensive low cloud and a few spots of drizzle through the night,
01:1710 degrees where we've got the cloud, where we have got the clear spells, western Scotland,
01:20northwest England, northern Ireland, temperatures dipping into the mid or even in some shelter
01:25spots, low single figures and a few mist patches emerging. That's where the brightest skies,
01:30once any mist clears, will be on Wednesday morning, northern Ireland, western Scotland,
01:33northwest England, parts of west Wales and southwest England, fairing well for sunshine
01:38as well. And actually on Wednesday, there's a signal that the low cloud will retreat much
01:43more quickly and leaving many parts of the UK with blue skies once again. But the exception
01:50remains the east coast of England, central and northern Scotland, where we're going to
01:54see that low cloud persisting, along with the brisk breeze for the southeast from the
01:59North Sea. That's going to make things feel once again on the chilly side. 13 Celsius
02:03there for Sunderland, but 23 for Bristol and somewhere across central southern England
02:08we'll see 24 or 25 degrees. So this stark contrast in temperatures and cloud amounts
02:14remains on Wednesday across much of the UK. Now into Wednesday night, we'll see that low
02:19cloud become more extensive once again. Odd shower possible over the highlands of Scotland
02:24during Wednesday. They'll be very isolated if they occur. The air is quite dry at the
02:29moment, so it's unlikely that they'll be particularly widespread. And then into Wednesday night,
02:34we'll see the low cloud return before retreating once again on Thursday. And the theme through
02:39the next few days is for a subtle change in wind direction. The high to the north pushes
02:43to the east. The low to the southwest pushes a bit closer. The winds still remain easterly
02:49across eastern parts of the UK, so cool there. But elsewhere, the humidity rises and mid
02:54to high 20s are possible by the weekend, along with big clouds like these giving heavy showers
02:59and thunderstorms.
