00:00Hello. For many a drier and clearer interlude during Friday but for some
00:05there will be further showers. Those showers particularly lively during the
00:09evening on Thursday across West Wales into South Wales and then the south west
00:13of England. Here a thunderstorm warning in force during the evening, risk of 30
00:18to 40 millimetres of rainfall in some spots building up in just a few hours
00:23along with flashes of lightning. So lively evening to come along with a
00:27gusty wind, 50 mile per hour wind gusts towards the far southwest accompanying
00:30those showers. And then the showering activity transfers east along the
00:35English Channel coast, again risk of 30 to 40 millimetres of rainfall in a short
00:40space of time. Anywhere from Dorset to Kent along the coast predominantly those
00:44showers fuelled by warm seas. So yellow thunderstorm warning in force during the
00:48early hours of Friday here. But across the rest of the UK actually a ridge of
00:53high pressure is building in, the isobars are opening out and so lighter winds
00:56clear skies and temperatures falling away. A few mist and fog patches first thing in
01:00places but also those low temperatures. Low single figures and in some areas a
01:05touch of air frost could get as low as minus 3 Celsius across sheltered parts
01:10of northern UK. Still some showers into western fringes mind you and the showery
01:15rain there, slow to clear I think in the far southeast corner could be some
01:19heavy rain until mid-morning. But eventually it does clear and then blue
01:22skies for many except for the west and especially northwest and exposed coasts
01:27where there will be some further showers coming through, not as lively as we've
01:32seen at times through the week. They'll be scattered in between, there'll be some
01:36spells of sunshine. But despite the lighter winds and the greater chance of
01:40sunny spells during Friday, temperatures actually reaching a nadir compared with
01:45recent days and weeks and the next week or so. 12 to 14 in the south, 11 Celsius
01:51in the north, perhaps a touch below average for the time of year. Into the
01:57evening and the showers in the west continue for a time but for many clear
02:01spells continue and as a result those temperatures fall away. I think the
02:05coldest part of the night in the west will be early in the night whilst those
02:08temperatures will continue to fall in the east during the early hours of
02:12Saturday. Such a frost around first thing in the east then but further west
02:17temperatures are rising by the end of night because the next weather system is
02:20moving in. Cloudier, wetter and windier weather. Now the wind in the west will
02:25touch gale force around mid-morning on Saturday I think for exposed coasts of
02:29Western Scotland, Irish seacoast as well. The rain getting heavier for a time
02:33before actually that rain tends to break up and fizzle a bit whilst it moves into
02:37central and eastern areas. Dull and damp for England and Wales but the rain not that
02:42heavy. However it will be accompanied by that breeze, moderate to strong winds for
02:46many and it clears Western Scotland, West Wales, Northern Ireland by the end of
02:50Saturday. Brighter skies moving in here, largely sunny conditions for Northern
02:54Ireland at least during the afternoon. 13 Celsius in Northern Ireland, 12 to 15 in
02:59the south although without wind and rain not feeling all that pleasant and
03:02Scotland sees 11 Celsius. Now the rain across central and eastern areas it will
03:09be slow to clear in the southeast overnight. Could pep up for a time to
03:12cause further issues, we'll keep you updated on that. But elsewhere further
03:16the showers move in for Sunday and more unsettled weather on the way for Monday.
