00:00Hello, there. Welcome to your latest national weather forecast from the Met Office. Thursday
00:05was a humid day across the U.K. There was lots of cloud cover, but temperatures still
00:09in the low 20s, turning a little fresher through Friday and into the weekend. That's courtesy
00:14of this area of low pressure. But low pressure brings often wet and windy weather right through
00:20the weekend for many of us. Rain in places, quite brisk winds around the coasts.
00:24To end Thursday, we do have a lot of cloud across the U.K. still, some outbreaks of light
00:29rain and drizzle, particularly over the hills. This weather front is still pushing its way
00:32slowly northwards across Scotland, entering Orkney and Shetland by the end of the night.
00:37Overall, generally quite cloudy though, perhaps a few clear spells across western areas. But
00:42a lot of cloud around, some mist and murk. This will keep temperatures generally on the
00:46warm side to start Friday morning, 16 to 18 Celsius, similar to what we saw on Thursday
00:52morning. To a grey start, some outbreaks of light rain and drizzle, a few glimmers of
00:56sunshine in the west. But as we go through the morning and into the afternoon, I'm hopeful
01:00the cloud will lift and break. We should see brighter skies compared to Thursday. Yes,
01:04there'll still be a lot of cloud around, but there will be some glimmers of sunshine, particularly
01:08across northeast England into eastern Scotland. Even elsewhere, seeing a few spells of sunshine.
01:13The risk of a few showers, but most places staying dry. Increasing risk of a few heavier
01:18showers though into Northern Ireland by the end of the day as the wind starts to pick
01:22up here in association with the weekend's low. Temperatures similar to Thursday, generally
01:27the high teens to low 20s, 23 to 25 possible across some eastern areas where we see any
01:33sunnier breaks. Into the evening time, we see the increasing risk of showers moving
01:38in from the Atlantic across the west of the UK, further east into the early hours it stays
01:42dry. But then later on across central and southeastern parts of England, the risk of
01:47some heavier showers developing here. Winds picking up particularly around the west along
01:52the coasts. And again, that will keep temperatures up generally in double figures for most, perhaps
01:57in any sheltered spots just about dipping down to around 7 or 8 degrees. So the weekend
02:02starts fairly unsettled as this low pressure starts to move in. Frequent showers across
02:07the northwest of the UK, some of these heavy, and in fact across the whole of the UK through
02:11the day. It'd be a mixture of sunny spells and scattered showers. Some of them could
02:15be heavy at times, and it'd be particularly breezy around the coasts. And they just take
02:19the edge off the feel of things too. So generally temperatures reaching the low 20s, but add
02:24on the strength of the breeze, it will just feel a little bit chillier. Looking at Sunday
02:28briefly and we can see another fairly unsettled day further north and east. It'd be a day
02:32of sunshine and showers, but increasing cloud from the southwest will bring in some outbreaks
02:37of rain as the day progresses and temperatures again in the low 20s. So if you'd like more
02:42information on the weather where you are over the next few days, you can follow us on our
02:46social media channels. See you again soon.
