00:00Hello, there. Welcome to your morning weather from the Met Office. It is unsettled through
00:05the day ahead as Storm Gerrit moves in from the Atlantic, bringing strong winds, heavy
00:10rain, outbreaks of snow for Scotland as well. Met Office warnings in force for much of the
00:14country over the next 24 hours, staying unsettled as we move into Thursday as well. So, let's
00:22take a look at the details for the day ahead. Cloudy and wet across much of the country.
00:28Rain will be heavy at times as we move through the day. It slowly pushes north and eastwards.
00:32Expect some travel disruption across the country with some surface spray on the roads. Very
00:37windy too, gusts of 40-50 mph locally, 60-70 around some southern and western coasts. As
00:44the rain bumps into the cold air across Scotland, we could see 10-20 cm over the higher ground.
00:49This combined with the very strong winds, 60 mph plus, we could see blizzards in places
00:55too. Something a little drier trying to come into Northern Ireland ahead of some really
00:59blustery showers moving in later on into the evening. Very mild across England and Wales
01:04but with the cloud, the rain, the strong winds, it will feel cooler than the numbers suggest
01:09and temperatures struggling over the higher ground of Scotland. Remaining very unsettled
01:15into the evening, the main rain clears but then really heavy, blustery showers push across
01:20the country. Squally conditions developing, very gusty winds with these showers and overnight
01:25staying unsettled too. Very strong winds continuing across northern Scotland, heavy snow for Shetland
01:31as well. Warnings remaining in force here. And temperatures with the blustery winds around
01:36and the showers won't fall too low, generally 6-10 Celsius for England and Wales, a little
01:41lower across Northern Ireland and Scotland. For Thursday, it remains unsettled. Blustery
01:47showers right across the country, organising themselves, give some bands of heavy rain
01:52as we move through into the afternoon, particularly across parts of England and Wales. So this
01:56could lead to some tricky travelling conditions as well. But blustery showers right across
02:01the country, frequent and heavy across the north-west too, combined with some strong
02:06and gusty winds. So the winds are a little less strong compared to Wednesday. Temperatures
02:11down a little, 7-9 across the north of the UK, still 11 or 12 in the south. So there
02:17is very unsettled weather over the next 24 hours or so right across the UK. So if you
02:23are travelling, do take extra care. And for further information, you can follow us on
02:28our YouTube and on our social media channels. See you soon.
