00:00Hello there, I'm Greg Dewhurst. Welcome to your latest broadcast from the Met Office.
00:05High pressure continues to dominate the weather seen as we move right through the rest of
00:09the weekend and indeed much of next week as well. We can see that on the synoptic chart.
00:14Huge area of high pressure over the UK keeping it settled. North-easterly breeze will filter
00:19in a few showers at times though over the next few days.
00:24So taking a look at the details for the end of Saturday, clear spells across the country.
00:29Still the risk of a few showers filtering in from the North Sea though most of these
00:33light few and far between. Though they could be a little bit wintry over the highest tops.
00:37Under the clearest skies temperatures will fall away once again, minus two to minus five
00:42in the countryside but as you can see towns and cities generally holding up just above
00:46freezing. So there will be a frost to start Sunday morning but blue skies particularly
00:51in the west, cloudier skies in the east. Once again the risk of a few showers moving in
00:56from the North Sea. And through the day what we'll see is the cloud starts to bubble up
01:00and also push westwards. So into the afternoon there will be quite a lot of cloud around
01:04but I'm hopeful there will be some sunny spells. The best of these most likely towards south-east
01:09England and also across central and north-west Scotland. Temperatures overall generally around
01:14average seven to nine Celsius but with the winds generally coming in from the north-east
01:19it will feel chillier than the numbers suggest. The wind picking up as well across the far
01:23south-east of England into the afternoon. Through into the evening time the cloud starts
01:27to melt away once more. There could still be a few showers moving in from the North
01:32Sea across eastern parts of England. The clearest skies across parts of Scotland, perhaps south-west
01:37England for a time too. Under the clearest skies again temperatures falling below freezing,
01:42perhaps just holding up above freezing where the cloud remains and the risk of one or two
01:46showers continues. So it means a mixed start to Monday morning. There will be some frost
01:51and sunny spells around, thicker cloud across the east. This tends to spread westwards as
01:55we go through the day, limiting the amount of brightness and sunshine but I'm hopeful
02:00there will be a few glimmers from time to time. The best of the sunshine holding on
02:04most likely across parts of Northern Ireland, western Scotland and as you can see still
02:09some showers moving in from the North Sea, perhaps drifting a little further inland towards
02:14the Midlands by Monday afternoon. And temperatures once again similar, seven to nine Celsius.
02:20Will there be any change over the next few days? Well looking at the pressure pattern,
02:24not really. It stays near, if not over the UK, this high pressure. It does drift a little
02:29bit further northwards but a lot of dry weather to come, the risk of one or two light showers
02:34and winds continue to come in from the north east, a fairly chilly direction. If you'd
02:39like more information on the weather where you are over the next few days you can find
02:42out more information on our social media channels. I'll see you again soon.
