00:00Hello there. Christmas Day overall has been wet. We've seen cloud across the UK and exceptionally
00:07mild once more. But the weather system associated with that is moving away, a brief ridge of
00:13high pressure. Blink and you miss it though for Boxing Day as then by Wednesday turns
00:18wet and windy as further low pressure systems move in from the Atlantic. Weather warnings
00:23across the UK already been issued by the Met Office. So there could be some travel disruption.
00:28More details on that in a moment. For the rest of Christmas Day evening time, rain clearing
00:33south-east England. Shall we rain across Northern Ireland, Northern England slowly fading as
00:37we move into the early hours. And then for most it will be dry overnight, plenty of clear
00:42skies. This will allow temperatures though across Scotland to dip below freezing around
00:46minus three Celsius. There's some icy stretches forming here with some wintry showers still
00:51feeding in from the north. Elsewhere, temperatures generally holding up above freezing but lower
00:56than they have been of late. So temperatures actually in single figures. So it means a
01:01fresher start to Boxing Day morning, but plenty of blue skies around a few showers across
01:06North Wales, Northern England, perhaps into the Midlands before these fade away. But through
01:10the day, plenty of sunshine to come. A great day to be outside. Just some wintry showers
01:15affecting the far north-east of Scotland. And then later on into the afternoon across
01:20the far south-west, we'll see some outbreaks of rain moving in here. The cloud generally
01:25thickening though as we move through the latter part of the day. Temperatures a little
01:30bit more festive where they should be for the time of year across the north of the UK.
01:34Generally single figures still mild across the far south around about eleven degrees
01:38as a maximum temperature. As we head into the evening time on Boxing Day, we'll see
01:43the cloud and the rain slowly spill its way north-eastward. Some heavy rain developing
01:47particularly across Wales into parts of Northern Ireland and later on Northern England and
01:52bumping into some cold air could give some temporary snow across the far north of the
01:57Pennines into southern parts of Scotland. The wind's picking up too towards the end
02:02of the night. We could see gusts of 50, 60 miles an hour. So rainfall and wind warnings
02:07in force to take us into Wednesday morning. But the wind's coming in from the south, so
02:13England and Wales here, temperatures rising as the night goes on up to around nine or
02:16ten Celsius by the time we get to Wednesday morning. Chilly further north, temperatures
02:21around freezing just below under the clearest skies of Scotland. So we could see some icy
02:27stretches here. And then as the band of rain pushes into Scotland, it'll turn to snow over
02:31the higher ground. And generally overall on Wednesday, a wet and windy picture. That rain
02:37will be heavy at times. It could lead to some travel disruption too. We could see as much
02:42as 70 to 80 millimetres of rain across some western parts of Wales, western parts of England
02:48too. Wind gusts continue to strengthen. We could see 60 to 70 miles an hour around exposed
02:53coasts of southern England. And again, the snowfall continuing across the hills of Scotland,
02:5810 to 15 centimetres is possible. So some disruption to journeys as people travel through
03:05Wednesday. So do stay tuned to the forecast over the next few days. Later on in the day,
03:10we could see some brighter skies returning for Northern Ireland. And temperatures, southerly
03:15winds, much of England and Wales, it will be mild, 12 or 13 Celsius. Cooler further
03:19north, temperatures generally staying in single figures for Northern Ireland and Scotland.
03:24So it's an unsettled end to Wednesday. It then stays unsettled through the rest of the
03:31week into next weekend as well. Further showery rain and brisk winds at times. You can find
03:35out more details on this on our website and on our YouTube channel. See you again soon.
