00:00Hello there, welcome to the latest broadcast from the Met Office. Tuesday was a sunny day
00:04for many with some scattered showers. Now, looking at the bigger picture over the next
00:08few days, the jet stream remains close to the UK, meaning low pressures will move in
00:12from the Atlantic. Fairly orange on the map, meaning fairly mild at the moment, but if
00:17we run the sequence through over the next few days, we might see some colder air trying
00:20to push down from the north. This may introduce some colder air across central parts and northern
00:27parts as we move into the Christmas weekend, but some uncertainty as the jet stream starts
00:32to kink and tries to bring in some milder air once more. So, stay tuned to the forecast
00:37as we move through the next few days as there's some uncertainty exactly where mild and colder
00:42air will lie over the next few days. So, back to Tuesday evening, we have cliffs, bells
00:48and showers for many. Showers starting to merge though into some longer spells of rain
00:53across parts of Wales, pushing into northern and eastern England, later on into the Midlands
00:57and southwest England too. Either side of this band of rain, we've got some clear spells,
01:02but frequent showers, if not longer spells of rain for Northern Ireland, Northern and
01:06Western Scotland, blowing in on quite a blustery breeze too. Under the cloud and rain, temperatures
01:11will hold up 5, 6, 7 Celsius. Under any clearer spells, could dip to 3 or 4. So, most places
01:17frost free to start Wednesday morning, but it means a wet start at breaks of heavy rain
01:21pushing quickly eastwards across England and Wales, but brightening up behind. I think
01:26generally in Northern Ireland, Northern England and into Scotland, we'll see a cloudier day.
01:30Frequent showers, some of these heavier at times, falling a sleet of snow over the higher
01:34ground, blown in on quite a blustery breeze too, but there will be some sunny spells in
01:39between. Feeling quite chilly here, 9, 10 degrees at the very best, perhaps 11 across
01:44some southern counties. So, a little bit below average for the time of year. Through into
01:50the evening, we'll see further rain moving in from the Atlantic to affect parts of England
01:54and Wales. Some of this could be heavy at times. Again, further north, Northern Ireland
01:58and Scotland seeing some scattered showers and clear spells in between overnight. Under
02:02clear spells, temperatures will dip away, perhaps close to freezing for 1 or 2, but
02:07generally in towns and cities holding up above freezing, some mild air starting to approach
02:12the southwest of England. It's a great start for many once more, best of the sunshine across
02:16the northern half of the UK, turning wetter and windier most likely through the day across
02:22England and Wales on Thursday. Some outbreaks of heavy rain developing at times, leading
02:26to some trickier driving conditions at times. Best of the sunshine just about holding on
02:31across Northern England, Northern Ireland ahead of some rain later and northern parts
02:36of Scotland seeing sunny spells and scattered showers, which again are likely to be wintry
02:40over the higher ground. Temperature wise, 6 to 9 degrees across the north, 11 to 13
02:45in the south, so quite mild here. So over the next few days, we keep a contrast between
02:50the north and the south of Caldera, never too far away. So if you'd like more information
02:55leading up to the Christmas period, you can follow us on our social media channels. I'll
02:59see you again soon.
