00:00Hello there, welcome to your latest Met Office forecast. We see mixed fortunes through Saturday.
00:06There was some sunshine around but quite cool and cloudy, particularly in the east. And
00:11looking at the bigger picture as we move forward through the rest of the weekend into the beginning
00:14of next week, well, low pressure remains in charge. Further wet and windy weather spreading
00:19across the UK, affecting most of us through the next few days.
00:24So through the rest of Saturday into the early hours of Sunday, we have a band of rain pushing
00:28its way slowly eastward, some heavy bursts possible along this band of rain. There could
00:34be some squally winds too. And as the rain bumps into some colder air across Scotland,
00:38we could see some snow across the tops of the high ground. But rainfall totals continue
00:44to build across eastern parts of Scotland in particular, perhaps another 10, 20, locally
00:4940 millimetres of rain here. So it could lead to some further flooding issues as we move
00:54through into the beginning of Sunday. The rain stretches south across eastern parts
00:59of England by the end of the night. Elsewhere, a mixture of clear spells and scattered showers.
01:05So it won't be as cold tonight compared to recent nights, lows generally down to three
01:10or four Celsius, but generally overall a frost free night and a frost free start to Sunday
01:16with that rain around. This slowly pushes its way into the North Sea as we move through
01:21the morning, allowing brighter skies to develop, but blustery showers moving in quite quickly.
01:27Frequent across Western areas, some of these heavy at times, thundery too, and perhaps
01:31some hail in one or two of the showers. But in between sunny spells and temperatures gradually
01:36lifting into the afternoon, highs 10 to 12 Celsius in the south, seven to nine across
01:42the north of the UK. Showers continue through Sunday evening, but they do start to ease,
01:48allowing clearer skies, particularly across the north and east of the UK. Later on in
01:53the night, the next batch of wet and windy weather moves in from the Atlantic, affecting
01:57parts of Northern Ireland, Wales and the West Country during the early hours. Some really
02:02heavy rain developing, some strong winds too. Elsewhere, with clearing skies, we'll see
02:06some frost and ice developing. Temperatures across parts of Scotland into northeast England
02:12falling close to freezing, if not below in towns and cities, minus three, minus four
02:17in the countryside. However, further south and west, temperatures rise here, six to nine
02:21Celsius by the end of the night. But that means a wet start to Monday morning across
02:26southern and western areas. This wet weather pushes its way north and eastward slowly through
02:30the day, some heavy downpours possible, some strong winds, this followed by sunshine and
02:35heavy showers. However, the far northeast of England, up into much of Scotland, getting
02:40away with generally a dry day, perhaps a few showers across northeast Scotland, Orkney
02:45and Shetland, but some sunshine to be had here. Temperature wise, generally similar
02:50to Sunday, seven to nine across the north of the UK, peaking around 12 Celsius in the
02:56south. So a lot going on with the weather over the next few days, further bands of rain
03:00moving in as we head into the new working week. So if you'd like more information on
03:04this, you can follow us on our social media channels. I'll see you again soon.
