00:00Hello there. Welcome to your latest national forecast from the Met Office. It's a wet and
00:05windy picture through the rest of Saturday across the UK. And the reason for this is
00:10low pressure dominates the weather pattern and does so through the rest of the weekend
00:14into the beginning of the week. But it is easing, allowing higher pressure to slowly
00:18build in as we move through the week next week, turning things drier, but then cooler
00:23as well with the return of some overnight frost and fog in places.
00:29But a wet end to Saturday, outbreaks of heavy rain pushing their way eastward, some localised
00:33flooding possible across parts of Scotland, southern Wales, southern parts of England
00:37too as Met Office warnings remain in force, particularly across the south here as we've
00:41seen a lot of rain over the course of the month. Towards the second half of the night,
00:46it does become drier, clearer from the north-west, but showers will move in across parts of Northern
00:52Ireland, north-west Scotland. Some of these heavy, blustery winds still across the north-west
00:56reaching Gale Force at times, winds falling lighter elsewhere, but cloud holding on and
01:01outbreaks of rain still in the south-east. So it won't be a cold night under the cloud,
01:05temperatures holding up well above where they should be, 10-11 Celsius as a minimum, a little
01:10bit fresher across the north but still above average 7 or 8 degrees for many.
01:16So wet start across south-east England first thing. It remains damp across much of the
01:20south-east through the day. The rain will come and go at times. There could be some
01:24drier interludes but also the rain could be heavy. So we could see some large accumulations
01:29building in one or two spots, some surface flooding in places too. Further north and
01:34west, brighter, still a hangback of cloud across much of England and Wales, limiting
01:38the amount of blue skies but there will be some brighter interludes. Showers though across
01:43the north-west as Scotland, Northern Ireland pushing later on into north-west England and
01:48Wales. Some of these heavy at times, blustery still across north-western areas, winds falling
01:53much lighter through the afternoon compared to Saturday. In terms of temperatures, still
01:58mild, 12, 13, 14 degrees, double figures for many, so well above where they should be for
02:05the end of November. As we move through the end of the day on Sunday into the early hours
02:10of Monday, the rain eventually clears from south-east England. Blustery showers following
02:15in from many areas overnight, some of these heavy at times, particularly in the west,
02:19Wales, south-west England and remaining quite blustery around the coast but winds falling
02:23light in the east will allow for some mist and fog patches. Under the clearest spells,
02:29it will be a chillier night overall compared to the night just gone and the last few nights
02:33temperatures dipping into single figures for many, perhaps as low as a touch of frost,
02:38so freezing across north-east England and into parts of Scotland. So a fresher start
02:43to Monday morning but a brighter start for many. Sunshine and showers though from the
02:47word go in the west, these do push their way eastwards, perhaps merging to some longer
02:51spells of rain across central southern England and south-east England later. But lots of
02:56people having a dry day, plenty of sunny spells, particularly across parts of Scotland, north-east
03:01England. Winds generally lighter than they have been, a bit blustery around some western
03:06coasts and temperatures just starting to nudge their way downwards, perhaps nearer to average
03:11but still slightly above 10 or 11 degrees in the far south as the winds start to switch
03:17direction. And that's the trend of things to come as we move through into the new working
03:22week as we'll see high pressure starting to build in. It will keep most weather fronts
03:27at bay, so most places becoming dry, just the risk of some rain across the north-west
03:32and temperatures returning to where they should be for the time of year, the return of overnight
03:36frost and fog. I'll see you again soon.
