00:00Hello, there. Welcome to your latest broadcast from the Met Office. Cloudier skies across
00:06the U.K. as we move through the next 24 hours compared to the sunshine we saw on Saturday.
00:11Low pressure dominating the weather pattern at the moment, briefly less cold in the south,
00:16but colder air quickly returns as we move through the week ahead. And then it's towards
00:20the middle of the week, this area of low pressure bumps into that colder air. We could see the
00:25risk of some rain turning to snow, particularly over the higher ground of central northern
00:29parts of the U.K. The details of this still a little uncertain, so stay tuned to the forecast
00:35over the coming days. Back to Sunday afternoon, the best of the blue skies holding on there
00:41for central and northern parts of Scotland. No weak weather front pushing south across
00:45Shetland and Orkney. Sunshine turning increasingly hazy, if not grey skies, by the afternoon
00:51across eastern England and then definitely grey skies across the west. Outbreaks of rain
00:56for many here, one or two heavier bursts possible. The wind's just picking up a little
01:00towards the west country around the coast too, but this importing some mild air, 10
01:05to 12 Celsius here. Under the cloud, in the sunshine as well, further north and east,
01:11temperatures struggling 3 to 5 degrees as that cold air holds on. As we move through
01:16the afternoon into the evening time, this band of rain slowly pushes eastwards across
01:21much of England, Wales, Northern Ireland. Showery conditions across Scotland under clear
01:25spells. We could still see a patchy frost developing and the showers turning wintry
01:30over the higher ground, so we could see some icy stretches developing during the early
01:34hours for Scotland. But elsewhere, generally a lot of cloud around. This will keep temperatures
01:39up, so a milder night compared to of late and generally frost-free for England, Wales
01:44and much of Northern Ireland. Outbreaks of rain, still temperatures 3 to 8 Celsius, temperatures
01:50dipping below freezing for the glen of Scotland. So an icy start here, some wintry showers
01:55elsewhere, generally quite grey. Showery outbreaks of rain, this slowly pushing south
01:59eastwards as that low pressure moves out the way, allowing brighter skies to develop across
02:04parts of Northern Ireland, western Scotland and then later western fringes of England
02:08and Wales. Some showers developing here. The east staying on the cloudy side generally,
02:12the winds coming in off the North Sea, making it feel quite cold. Plenty of showers too,
02:17some of these on the heavy side at times. And temperatures, well actually double figures
02:22initially in the south, but colder air filtering south quite quickly. So by the afternoon,
02:27many places in single figures, a cold feeling day, 6 to 9 Celsius at the very best. Then
02:34looking ahead through the evening and overnight, we continue to see showers down the eastern
02:38side of the UK. Again, some icy stretches developing across Scotland as temperatures
02:42fall below freezing. Western areas where winds fall light, we could see some frost developing
02:48and later on as well across northern England, southern Scotland in particular. Generally
02:52enough cloud to keep it frost free in the east. As we move through the week ahead, it
02:57generally stays cold. We'll see some overnight frost and fog as well and an increasing risk
03:02of some rain and hill snow moving in, particularly Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. So stay tuned
03:08for the details for this and you can do that by subscribing to our YouTube channel and
03:13keeping up to date on our social media platforms. See you again soon.
