00:00Hello there. Welcome to your latest broadcast from the Met Office. Well, starting at looking
00:05a little higher in the sky as we head into this evening and over the next few nights
00:09as well. The aurora borealis, the increased chance of seeing the northern lights across
00:14the northern half of the UK, perhaps even seeing it under clearer skies across northern
00:19England, even the Midlands over the next few nights. So, something worth looking out for.
00:24Back to the bigger picture and the jet stream, big arch across the Atlantic moving right
00:30above the UK, meaning settled weather for us, an area of high pressure sat in between,
00:35meaning it is going to be dry. Weather systems generally kept at bay over the next few days.
00:40Though we will see a few showers moving in from the North Sea at times, but plenty of
00:44dry weather to come. And we've seen that through the course of the morning, through into the
00:49afternoon, yes, there'll be quite a lot of cloud around, particularly across northern
00:52England stretching into Northern Ireland. There will be sunny spells developing more
00:56in the way of sunshine compared to yesterday across southern parts of England. The best
01:00though across central and north-west Scotland, unbroken across the Highlands for the rest
01:05of the day. Temperatures generally around average for the time of year, 7 to 9 Celsius,
01:10perhaps 10 in one or two spots in the sunshine across the south-east, but still feeling quite
01:15chilly. Brisk north-easterly breeze there still across the south-east. Into the evening
01:20time we'll see variable amounts of cloud. Cloud thickest across parts of northern England,
01:25southern and eastern Scotland, one or two showers still possible. Under the clearest
01:29skies we'll see a frost forming once more, but the cloud does filter in, limiting the
01:33frost across the Midlands into Wales later on in the night. Under the clearest skies
01:38we'll see temperatures down to minus 8 or so across the glens of Scotland, so a chilly
01:42start here to Monday morning. Elsewhere, generally holding up under the cloud, 4 or 5 degrees,
01:48again a patchy frost across parts of Wales, south-west England to greet us on Monday
01:53morning. But that means blue skies initially, but the cloud does quickly filter its way
01:57south and westwards, thick enough for a few splashes of light rain, perhaps a little bit
02:02of sleet or snow over the tops of the highest ground. Best of the sunshine as we move through
02:06into Monday afternoon will be across parts of Scotland. The Highlands again seeing unbroken
02:12sunshine for much of the day. Northern Ireland seeing some bright spells at times too, and
02:16perhaps later on in the afternoon a few more spells of sunshine across the east. And again,
02:22the risk of a few light showers throughout the day. Temperatures once again similar,
02:267-9C, perhaps locally 10 around some coasts in the south-west. Still feeling a little
02:32chilly with that north-easterly breeze, and very little changes into Tuesday and in fact
02:36the week ahead. It's looking largely dry, there'll be variable amounts of cloud but
02:40there will be some sunny spells at times, and also the risk of a few showers which will
02:44continue to be on the wintry side. So if you'd like more information on the weather where
02:48you are over the coming days, and in fact the week ahead, you can visit us on our social
02:53media channels. I'll see you again soon.
