00:00Hello there, I'm Greg Dewhurst and welcome to your latest broadcast from the Met Office.
00:05Well, this picture sums it up quite nicely really, quite blustery as we move through
00:09the weekend. There'll be showers for everyone, but also some sunshine too. Low pressure is
00:14dominant across the UK. However, we will see a brief ridge of high pressure for a time
00:18on Sunday before then further wet and windy weather moves in late Sunday and into the
00:23early hours of Monday morning. Through Friday evening, we'll see showery outbreaks of rain
00:28across southern parts of Wales pushing into the Midlands. Elsewhere, some clear spells.
00:33Then during the early hours, we'll see some wetter and windier weather moving in from
00:36the Atlantic, affecting western parts of the UK. Some heavy downbursts possible here, but
00:41also some stronger winds developing. Initially, quite chilly with temperatures close to freezing
00:46if not below across the glens of Scotland. But as the cloud, the wind and the rain moves
00:50in, temperatures will start to rise. So by five o'clock Saturday morning, temperatures
00:55double figures across much of England and Wales, still single figures across Northern
00:59Ireland and Scotland, but risen compared to earlier on in the night. So this means a fairly
01:04fresh start to Saturday morning, a mixed start as well. Some sunny spells across the Midlands
01:09into central southern England, but elsewhere, a mixture of cloud and rain. And these outbreaks
01:14of rain push their way eastwards through the day, so everyone needing a brolly at some
01:18point during the afternoon. Some showers developing, some of these heavy at times, and quite a
01:23blustery day, particularly across the west. Possible gusts of 30 to 40 miles an hour.
01:28This combined with those heavy rainfall downpours, it will feel quite chilly here, 9, 10, 11,
01:3412 degrees at the best. In the southeast, where we keep on to some sheltered weather
01:38here, 16 or 17, possibly 18 degrees. So not feeling too bad in those sunnier spots. So
01:44a blustery end to Saturday, showers across many areas. Showers tend to fade away as we
01:49move through into the early hours. Though some will still move through, heavy at times,
01:54but later on we'll see the clearest skies across England and Wales. Showers continuing
01:59across the north of the UK. And temperatures under clear spells dipping away, 4, 5, 6 degrees
02:05in the towns and cities, a little bit lower in the countryside. A touch of frost possible,
02:10perhaps where winds fall lightest across parts of Northern Ireland. So into Sunday morning,
02:15a mixed start. Sunny spells across England and Wales. Sunshine and showers across northern
02:19England, Northern Ireland and Scotland. But the showers tend to fade away as the morning
02:23progresses. Plenty of sunshine to come. However, thicker cloud will start to move into Northern
02:28Ireland ahead of some wetter and windier weather later. Elsewhere, the sunshine turning hazier.
02:33With lighter winds, it should feel a little bit warmer on Sunday compared to Saturday,
02:3716, 17 Celsius, possibly 18 in the far southeast. Then if we play the sequence on through Sunday
02:44evening, we see that wetter and windier weather moving in. Initially affecting parts of Northern
02:49Ireland, but soon sweeping in across the whole of the UK. The winds really picking
02:53up across the northwest of the UK, gusts of 40 to 50 miles an hour possible as we head
02:58into the early hours. Rain followed by showers across the rest of England and Wales. So temperatures
03:03overnight into Monday morning, generally staying in double figures, perhaps single figures
03:08across the far north. So if you'd like more information on the weather where you are through
03:12the weekend and into the beginning of next week, you can find more information on our
03:16social media channels. I'll see you again soon.
03:19Thanks for watching.
