00:00Hello, and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:05It's been quite a cloudy end to the weekend for many, but settled all the same, and that's
00:10due to this area of high pressure that's been dominating the UK weather for quite some time
00:16now.
00:17Though as we head into next week, we will start to see these weather fronts just trying
00:20to make a little bit more eastwards progress.
00:23But back to this afternoon, it's quite a cloudy picture out there for many, though across
00:28northern and western areas, we could just see some breaks in the cloud, particularly
00:33to the lee of high ground.
00:36It'll be dry for many, though there might just be the odd spot of rain and drizzle in
00:39the south-east, and also the far north-west.
00:43Though temperatures will be a touch above average for the time of year, given all the
00:48cloud we have around, so highs of around 10-11 for today.
00:54Moving through into this evening and overnight, and with all that cloud around, there's not
00:58too much of a risk of a cold night, but we will start to see some clear spells developing
01:04across northern and western areas, and in any sheltered spots from that slightly brisk
01:09southerly breeze, we might just see the odd patch of mist and fog forming.
01:14There also could be some clear spells in the far south-east into the early hours of Monday
01:19that could just bring a risk of fog here too.
01:22As I say, with all that cloud around, it'll be quite a mild night, but we might just see
01:26a patchy rural frost across northern and eastern areas, where we get a little bit of shelter
01:31from those winds.
01:33Now to start the new week, it will be quite cloudy, with any mist and fog lifting and
01:39breaking through the morning.
01:41But the cloud will lift and break too, so by around mid to late morning, and especially
01:46into the early afternoon, the cloud will start to break, bringing a much brighter start to
01:51the week with plenty of sunny spells.
01:54It'll feel a little cooler across western and northern coasts with a bit of a brisk
01:58breeze, but elsewhere, temperatures will be doing well for the time of year, with highs
02:04of around 10 to 12 across the south.
02:08Looking ahead into Monday evening, with clear spells around, there's a greater risk of frost
02:13and fog, especially as that cloud starts to clear away from the east, but looking further
02:18west, we've got a bit more in the way of cloud making its way in, bringing a risk of
02:22some outbreaks of rain and drizzle as we head later in the night.
