00:00Hello, and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.

00:04Fog formed overnight across much of central, southern and eastern England, and it will

00:09be slow to clear today, though there may be some bright spells at times.

00:14In any thicker cloud in the north and west, there will be the odd spot of rain and drizzle.

00:19And this settled weather is due to high pressure dominating the UK weather.

00:23The high that has been across the UK this week will slowly slip away southeastwards

00:27today and this will allow a cold front to push across the UK on Sunday.

00:33But back to this afternoon, and fog will slowly lift into low cloud across England and Wales,

00:38though it may persist for much of the day in some places, especially in north-east England.

00:44And in any spots where the fog does persist, temperatures will struggle today with a high

00:49of only 4 to 5.

00:51But under any brighter skies, temperatures will rise to a high of 9 to 11.

00:58Into tonight and across the south-west, there will be scattered showers that could be heavy

01:01for coastal regions.

01:03Looking up to the far north-west, the cold front pushes south-eastwards, bringing outbreaks

01:08of rain and drizzle.

01:09Elsewhere, under any clear spells, a slight frost and further fog patches may form, across

01:14mainly England and Wales.

01:16Though it's set to be cloudier and milder than last night, but temperatures could still

01:21drop close to, if not just below freezing, in any of those clearer spells.

01:27Through tomorrow morning, the cold front continues to push across the UK, fragmenting as it does

01:32so.

01:33Behind this, clearest conditions will follow, bringing plenty of sunshine to many by the

01:37afternoon.

01:38And it will be a touch milder tomorrow, especially for those remaining in any fog today, with

01:43a high of 10 to 12.

01:48Winter next week and high pressure is set to return, with frost and fog likely across

01:52the south once again, with milder and cloudier conditions in the far north.
