00:00Hello, and welcome to our latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04Clear spells last night led to some good fireworks displays, but also some mist and fog patches
00:08to start Sunday.
00:09There has been rain around also, particularly across East Anglia and South East England,
00:14and there is a rain warning for that until 4pm today.
00:18Elsewhere, showers are going to spread north-eastwards throughout the rest of this afternoon, and
00:23they could be heavy and thundery at times.
00:27Showers for today will still be a touch above average for the time of year, particularly
00:31across southern parts of the UK, where we'll see maximums of around 14-15.
00:38Heading into this evening, showers will continue for a time, though slowly becoming confined
00:43to southern and western parts of England and Wales, as well as north-west parts of Scotland.
00:49This is ahead of a band of longer spells of rain moving in across Northern Ireland, Wales
00:53and later north-west England as we start Monday.
00:57Away from the rain, though, across eastern parts of Scotland and England, we'll see some
01:02clear spells developing, which could lead to a few mist and fog patches forming.
01:08Temperatures tonight will be mild once again for southern and western parts of the UK,
01:12where we've got stronger winds and increased cloud cover.
01:15Though further east, under clear skies and in any shelter, temperatures could just drop
01:20into the mid to upper single figures.
01:24Now to start Monday, that mist and fog will slowly clear as that band of rain makes its
01:29way north and eastwards.
01:31This will be swiftly followed by further bands of longer spells of rain or showers making
01:36their way in from the south-west throughout the day.
01:40And these could once again be heavy at times.
01:43Temperatures tomorrow will be similar to what we're expecting to see today, if not just
01:48a touch higher, particularly across the south, where we could see the best of the sunshine
01:52through Monday.
01:54Now looking ahead to Monday evening, and showers will continue, but we draw our attention to
01:58this band of rain that's going to make its way into western parts of Wales as well as
02:03south-west England, and for a time, south-eastern parts of Northern Ireland.
02:07This is going to bring some quite heavy bursts of rain, maybe with some thunderstorms along
02:12there as well.
02:13But particularly, it's going to bring some quite strong winds into Monday night.
02:18So this cold front here marks that band of rain as it makes its way across the UK, bringing
02:23some quite strong winds for Irish sea coasts as well as the coasts of Devon and Cornwall.
02:29And this could see gusts of 55 to 60 miles per hour through Monday evening.
