00:00Hello and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:05So it's been quite a varied weekend, some hot weather but also heavy thunderstorms too.
00:10So let's have a look at the detail for tonight.
00:13Well, there will be some further heavy showers and thunderstorms
00:16across northern Wales, northern England, northern Ireland
00:19and lingering for a time across southern Scotland through tonight.
00:23And this is all ahead of this band of cloud and rain
00:26that's going to sink south-eastwards across Scotland and northern Ireland tonight.
00:30There will be some clear spells across eastern parts of England
00:33but mist, fog and low cloud as well.
00:37It will still be fairly warm and humid tonight
00:39with those temperatures still remaining in the mid to high teens.
00:44So as we go into the start of Monday, some early brightness across parts of England and Wales
00:49after that mist, fog and low cloud lifts and breaks.
00:53We will soon see cloud and outbreaks of rain spreading south-eastwards
00:57with some heavy showers and potentially thunderstorms as well
01:01across England and Wales just ahead of this.
01:04There will be some sunny spells as well and it will still feel fairly pleasant in the sunshine
01:09though we are starting to see those temperatures come down
01:11from what we saw last week and over the weekend.
01:14Still clinging on to some of that warmth across the south-east though
01:18with highs still getting into the mid to high twenties here.
01:22So into Monday night we will see the continuation of that cloud
01:26and outbreaks of rain spreading south-eastwards
01:29and through Monday night we will see that becoming a little heavier in places
01:33but also fairly slow moving.
01:35But looking to the north of that and things are starting to clear up,
01:38plenty of clear spells as those winds start to come from a northerly direction.
01:43So a bit of a chilly night to come for much of Scotland, northern Ireland
01:47and the far north of England but for the majority of England and Wales
01:51it is going to be another warm and humid night.
01:55So for Wales and much of England there will be a fair bit of mist,
01:59murk and low cloud around to start Tuesday.
02:02Outbreaks of rain too and that rain is going to make its way south and east
02:06fairly slowly throughout the day.
02:09So clinging on to some brightness across the south-east for a while
02:13but there is also a chance of some heavy showers there as well.
02:17But across Scotland and northern Ireland after a chilly start,
02:20plenty of brightness throughout Tuesday.
02:24But we will see some showers feeding in on those northerly winds.
02:28Brightness later on for northern England and northern parts of Wales
02:32as that cloud starts to clear away to the south-east.
02:35But let's have a look at those temperatures,
02:37starting to see them really drop down from the north
02:40especially compared to what we saw last week.
02:43So mid to high teens across northern parts of the UK,
02:46still just getting into the low 20s across the south of England and Wales
02:51for one more day.
02:53But let's have a look at what we've got in store for the middle part of the week.
02:56Well a slightly more settled day, bit more in the way of sunshine,
03:00some patchy cloud around too and maybe the odd light shower as well.
03:05But winds generally from the north for everybody
03:08so starting to see those temperatures drop a little lower,
03:11maybe again just creeping into the low 20s for southern parts of England and Wales.
03:16But the slightly more settled weather is only short-lived
03:18as cloud will increase from the west as we go into Thursday
03:22as low pressure starts to dominate once again.
