00:00Hello and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. So it was a hot day to
00:06start the weekend but there have already been some heavy showers and thunderstorms around
00:11so far through Sunday. Let's take a look at the bigger picture for a bit. We've had some
00:16very warm to hot air across the UK but as we go into next week we'll see various cold
00:21fronts pushing south eastwards bringing a change of air mass, so something cooler and
00:26fresher coming in from the north to northwest. But as we go towards Wednesday there is a
00:31hint that we might just see a day of some higher pressure so bringing something a little
00:35bit more settled very temporarily. But let's have a look at the rest of the detail for
00:40today. So plenty of heavy showers and thunderstorms around throughout the rest of today. Still
00:46a bit of uncertainty as to where exactly we'll see these thunderstorms though the greatest
00:51risk of those heavy showers and thunderstorms will be within the yellow warning area. But
00:56do bear in mind even if you are just outside of that warning area you could still see a
01:02thunderstorm that could bring some hail, frequent lightning and some strong gusty winds at time.
01:08So keep an eye on the forecast on our website, app and our social media throughout today.
01:12As we go into the latter part of this afternoon things will start to brighten up across the
01:17southwest becoming drier where we've seen some showers through this morning. But the
01:22best of the temperatures will be once again across the southeast. So highs again creeping
01:27into the low 30s starting to see things cool down a little bit though across the northwest.
01:34So as we go through this evening those showers will continue for a time but slowly making
01:39their way out into the North Sea lingering though for a time across southern Scotland
01:44as we go into the early hours of Monday morning. We will also see a band of cloud and rain
01:50make its way south eastwards across Scotland and Northern Ireland as well overnight. Best
01:56of any clear spells will be in the east and we could see the odd patch of mist and fog
02:00here with some low cloud as well for western coasts. But it will be another warm and fairly
02:05humid night once again with those lows staying in the mid to high teens. So to start the
02:12new working week then some early brightness as that mist fog and low cloud clears away.
02:18But this area of rain and cloud will make its way south eastwards throughout the day
02:22fairly erratically though. And we could also see further heavy showers and thunderstorms
02:26just developing ahead of this once again. There will be some sunny spells though also
02:32especially across central southern and eastern areas. So we'll still feel pretty pleasant
02:37in the sunshine though those temperatures not climbing quite as high as we've seen over
02:41the last week and into the weekend. So highs still in the mid to maybe just high 20s across
02:47the southeast but starting to see things cooling down across the north and west. Highs going
02:52into the high teens here. So as we look into Monday evening and we'll continue to see this
02:59band of cloud and rain making its way south eastwards. It will become a little heavier
03:03though and also slow moving as it comes into England and Wales and we'll be feeling fairly
03:09humid and with a bit of mist fog and low cloud again around here into Monday night. But starting
03:15to see things cool down become fresher and brighter in the northwest as those winds change
03:20direction here going into Tuesday. Thank you for listening and for all your latest weather
