00:00Hello and welcome to our latest weather update from the Met Office. So Storm
00:05Antony has brought some wet and windy conditions across the UK to start the
00:09weekend and we do have an amber wind warning out for southern parts of Wales
00:15and southwest England as we could see some damaging winds here. It's going to bring
00:20some localised disruption to travel so bridge closures and road closures are
00:24possible as well as flying debris and damaged property. So if you are in these
00:29areas do keep an eye on the forecast as you might need to make some changes to
00:33your plans for today. But let's have a look at the detail on those wind gusts.
00:38So we've got Storm Antony slowly moving eastwards throughout today and this
00:43means that through this afternoon we've got a northwesterly wind across southern
00:47parts of Wales and southwest England. Now here we could see gusts of 40 to 50
00:52miles per hour quite widely inland so it's not just going to affect coastal
00:56areas and these could peak at 60 miles per hour and on some exposed coasts we
01:01could see gusts up to 70 miles per hour and this is quite unseasonable for
01:07August. But as we go through into this evening Storm Antony will start to move
01:12away towards the southeast so these winds will slowly start to ease but it
01:17will be windy throughout the rest of today. Now let's have a look at the
01:21detail for this afternoon. We have also got a yellow thunderstorm warning out
01:25for southeastern parts of England so you could see some heavy slow-moving
01:29thunderstorms here that could also bring some localised disruption. Across Scotland
01:35we've already seen some heavy showers today and these will move into central
01:38areas as we go into this afternoon. For across Northern Ireland after quite a
01:43wet and dull start to the weekend things brightening up here a little bit into
01:47this afternoon maybe the odd shower continuing too. Temperatures not doing
01:52too well though for the time of year quite a lot below average we might only
01:57just scrape into the 20 degrees mark across the far south. Now as we go into
02:04this evening and Storm Antony will continue to slowly move away to the east
02:09continuing to bring some outbreaks of rain to East Anglia and southeast
02:13England through tonight and into the early hours of Sunday. They all remain
02:17quite blustery here too. Elsewhere things will start to dry up and we'll see some
02:22clearer spells too. Maybe the odd shower still for some western areas through
02:27tonight. With lighter winds and with clear spells around temperatures will
02:31drop a little bit more readily as we go through tonight and into the start of
02:35Sunday. So towns and cities generally remaining in the double figures though
02:39in some rural areas especially under longer clear spells temperatures
02:43dropping into the single figures. So a drier and brighter start to Sunday for
02:49many though we will still see those breezy conditions cloud and outbreaks of
02:53rain across the far east. Plenty of bright sunshine around to start the day
02:58but clouds soon bubbling up allowing those showers to develop particularly
03:03for northern and western areas to start. Increasingly dry conditions there across
03:08the far southwest as we go towards Sunday afternoon. We could see the odd
03:12heavy shower though across Northern Ireland, Scotland and Northern England
03:16We might also see the odd isolated thunderstorm into Sunday too. But with
03:22more in the way of sunshine and lighter winds temperatures doing better tomorrow
03:26than today. Still below average though for the time of year but we could get to
03:3020 to 21 in the south. As we move into Sunday evening what those showers will
03:36continue for a time but we'll start to see things drying up more from the
03:40southwest so this becoming more confined to northeastern areas as we go through
03:45Sunday evening. But plenty of clear spells developing once again and with
03:49light winds we're looking at another chilly night as we go into the start of
03:53the new working week. Thank you for listening and to keep up to date with
03:57the latest forecast and all of the weather warnings we have out do check
04:01out our website and follow us on social media. Bye for now.
