00:00Hello, I hope for those celebrating, you are having a lovely Christmas day.
00:04It's been a rather wet morning across the UK, with showers feeding in on fresh southwesterly
00:09winds.
00:10Some more persistent rain has been affecting south-east England, and this will continue
00:14into this afternoon, with that rain across south-east England slowly clearing away, and
00:18a mixture of sunshine and showers continuing across northern and western parts of the UK.
00:23Showers will start to become wintry across the high ground of Scotland, and winds here
00:27will turn north-westerly, bringing in some colder air.
00:31Away from north-west Scotland, though, it will be a mild day, with highs of 11-12.
00:36Zooming out to look at the big picture, through this afternoon and evening, a cold front will
00:40sweep south-eastwards, marking a temporary change to cooler conditions as we head into
00:45Boxing Day.
00:47Ahead of this, though, showers will continue across England and Wales, though there will
00:50be some clear spells too.
00:52As that cold front pushes south-eastwards, behind this we'll see blustery showers,
00:57and these will turn increasingly wintry across Northern Ireland, Scotland and the far north
01:01of England.
01:02It will be a cold night behind that cold front, with a widespread frost for much of the northern
01:06parts of the UK, though a patchy frost for Wales and central parts of England.
01:11After a cold start, it'll be quite a windy Boxing Day for many, especially in the far
01:15north, where we'll see gusts of 55-60mph for the Northern Isles.
01:19Elsewhere, showers will continue for the northern western parts of the UK that were drier and
01:23brighter day in the south-east, feeling colder though for all, especially in that wind, with
01:28highs of 8-10.
