00:00Hello, and welcome to our latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04So, it's been pretty fine and settled throughout this bank holiday weekend, but will it remain
00:10so throughout the rest of this week? Well, that area of high pressure that's been dominating
00:15our weather for the last couple of weeks isn't going anywhere anytime soon. It has brought
00:20us some northeasterly winds, though, that have been pushing cloud in from the North
00:24Sea to eastern areas. And through this afternoon, that will start to burn back, bringing some
00:29brighter spells here. Across northern and western areas, with plenty of clear spells
00:35around through this afternoon, we'll see some lengthy sunshine here, so do take care if
00:40you are outside and protect your skin from the strong sunshine as UV levels are moderate
00:45to high at this time of year. But if we look across the north and the southeast, there's
00:51quite a fresh breeze around at the moment, with gusts of around 20 to 25 mph. Now, looking
00:57across east Anglia and southeast England and down English Channel coasts, we could
01:02also see gusts of around 30 mph pretty locally, so for anyone that is heading to the beach
01:07this bank holiday afternoon, do bear in mind that it could be pretty breezy, as well for
01:12anyone who is out camping in a tent. But temperature wise, that is actually going to make things
01:17feel pretty cool across the far north and down eastern coasts, especially in comparison
01:22to western areas, where we are going to be getting into the low 20s once again.
01:27Now, as we go through this afternoon and this evening, we will start to see that cloud
01:32pushing back in from the North Sea, so a cloudier night to come across eastern areas, and this
01:38will make some westwards progress across central and southern England, as well as into the
01:43Midlands and maybe even the eastern parts of Wales.
01:47Looking across the north of Scotland as well, a bit of a cloudy night here, maybe with the
01:51odd spot of rain and drizzle as well. But away from all of this, there'll be plenty
01:56of clear spells around, and maybe for some northern areas, just a touch of frost.
02:01Now, as we go into the start of Tuesday morning, with that cloud around, a milder start here,
02:07but with the breeze off the North Sea, especially for any coastal areas, it's going to be feeling
02:12cool to start Tuesday morning, and also for anywhere that saw clear spells overnight.
02:18But that sun will quickly warm things up across Scotland, Northern Ireland, and for northern
02:23and western England as well, with another day of lengthy sunshine.
02:28Across eastern areas once again, this is where we'll always see more in the way of cloud,
02:32but there might be some brighter spells through tomorrow as that starts to break up. But still,
02:37with that breeze, it's going to be feeling pretty fresh for coastal areas.
02:42Temperatures tomorrow though will start to climb in comparison to today, especially across
02:46western and central Scotland, where we could see 24 to 25.
02:52Now as we look ahead into Tuesday evening, it's a bit of a rinse and repeat, with more
02:58cloud pushing in from the North Sea again down eastern areas, making its way westwards
03:03during the evening and overnight, and into the early hours of Wednesday. But once again,
03:08across the north and more the further west you are, that's where we'll see those clear
03:13spells clinging on for the longest into the start of Wednesday.
