00:00Hello, and welcome to our latest weather update from the Met Office.

00:04So, it's been a bit of an unsettled weekend with plenty of cloud and rain around, but

00:09things are set to change as we go into the new working week.

00:13With this morning's low pressure system clearing away, a northerly wind will become established

00:18allowing colder air to sink southwards across the UK, and high pressure to bring more settled

00:23starts to the new week. But this will be short-lived as low pressure will be moving in on Tuesday.

00:28But as we go back to this afternoon, and this morning's rain across the south-east

00:32will clear away to leave a drier afternoon for much of the UK, there might still be the

00:38odd shower for northern and eastern coasts, and these could be wintry across the high

00:43ground of Scotland.

00:45Temperatures today will be lower than what we've seen recently, but we will still see

00:49highs of around 11-12 across the south-west.

00:54It's a little bit of a cloudier start, but we will start to see that cloud breaking up

01:00as we go through tonight. Showers will start to ease as well, and in those clearer spells

01:05we will start to see those temperatures dropping. And we could see quite a harsh and widespread

01:11frost across Scotland, northern England and Northern Ireland, where we could see temperatures

01:16dropping as low as minus 6 or minus 8 tonight.

01:20Further south, with a bit of patchy cloud around to start Monday, it will be more of

01:24a patchy frost here, and there could just be the odd shower around too. Elsewhere, it

01:30will be a dry and bright start to the new week, with plenty of lengthy sunny spells

01:36through Monday. And within these sunny spells, it will be feeling pretty pleasant tomorrow,

01:41though temperatures will not be much higher than what we've seen today, with highs still

01:45around 10 or 11.

01:48Moving through to Monday evening then, and with those clear skies particularly across

01:52the north and the east, it will be another chilly start to the night here, with an early

01:58dip in those temperatures. And though as we look further west, we start to see cloud and

02:03rain moving in, so temperatures will start to rise there through the night, and will

02:06be a milder start for Tuesday here, but colder still across the north and the east.
