00:00Hello, and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04So the first half of the weekend has been pretty unsettled for some, especially in the
00:09west.
00:10Drier and brighter in the east though, and that will continue as we go into this evening.
00:15We'll see some further heavy, thundery showers for western areas, especially Northern Ireland
00:20through this evening, and they will start to make their way north-eastwards.
00:25On the side of this though, we will see some clearer spells, but for eastern coasts, low
00:31cloud will push in from the North Sea, so a bit of a cloudier night to come here.
00:36And with quite a bit of cloud and some outbreaks of rain around too, it'll be another warm
00:41and a bit of a humid night again, though it will actually be slightly cooler than what
00:45we saw on Friday night, though for some places temperatures won't drop out of the mid-teens.
00:51As we look ahead to Sunday, we have a couple of yellow thunderstorm warnings in force.
00:57These cover most parts of England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
01:02These are because we're going to see some pretty heavy showers that could bring some
01:05localised flooding and disruption.
01:08Within these showers, we'll see some pretty frequent lightning, hail and strong winds.
01:13But there is a bit of uncertainty into the exact detail of where we'll see these showers.
01:18So just because you are in these warning areas, it doesn't mean you're going to see a thunderstorm
01:23during Sunday.
01:25But do keep an eye on our website and our social media for any updates on where the
01:29heaviest showers and thunderstorms will be, as well as any updates on the warnings.
01:35But let's have a look at the detail for Sunday then.
01:38So any of those overnight showers will continue to push north-eastwards, again could be heavy,
01:43maybe the odd bit of thunder in some of those as well.
01:46But as daytime heating gets going, we'll start to see those showers popping up across
01:51England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
01:53And this is when we've got some of the greatest chances of seeing those thunderstorms.
01:57There will be some brighter skies too, especially across Scotland and down east in England during
02:02the morning.
02:03But it will be a slightly hazy sunshine.
02:06The highest temperatures though will be across England and Wales, with highs of 24 to 25
02:11expected.
02:12So the exact locations in which we'll see those highest temperatures is uncertain due
02:17to the nature of those showers.
02:19As we go into Sunday evening, and those showers will really get going into Sunday evening
02:24and overnight, merging together to form longer spells of thundery rain that will push northwards
02:31overnight Sunday and into the early hours of Monday morning.
02:35This does mean that things clear up for a time across much of England and Wales as well
02:39as Northern Ireland.
02:40So some clearer spells to start Monday morning.
02:44But as you can see, there are already a few showers developing across southwest England
02:49and western parts of Wales.
02:51Despite those clearer skies for some though to start Monday morning, with all of the cloud
02:56and rain overnight, temperatures still won't drop out of those mid-teens, so lows of around
03:0115 to 16 on Monday.
03:05But it will be quite a miserable start to the new week across Scotland, with plenty
03:10of cloud and heavy rain around to start the day.
03:13For England, Wales and Northern Ireland, a bit more in the way of sunshine than what
03:16we've seen over the weekend, but very quickly.
03:19Once that daytime heating starts, we'll get those showers popping up and they could be
03:23heavy once again, maybe with the odd thunderstorm in there as well.
03:28But temperatures on Monday will be doing fairly well once again, similar to the weekend, maybe
03:32a touch higher, especially for eastern areas where we could get to 25 or 26.
03:39But let's have a look at Tuesday and what the weather will bring as we go through the
03:42rest of the week.
03:43Well, not too much change, though showers will become less intense as we go towards
03:49the middle part of the week.
03:51Still a little bit of uncertainty in that forecast though, so generally the idea is
03:54things are going to remain unsettled.
03:57Still very warm though and humid, highs into the mid-twenties as we look into the rest
04:02of the week.
04:03But thank you for listening and do keep an eye on our website and our social media for
04:08all the latest on the weather and any changes to our warnings.
04:11Bye for now.
