Transcript
00:00Hello there. Welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:06Now for the next few days, much of the country will be dry and warmer with some sunshine
00:11and a ridge of high pressure keeping things very settled. Towards the far north and north-west
00:15of Scotland, weak weather fronts will deliver more clouds and rain from time to time. Elsewhere,
00:20with the sunshine, temperatures rising into the 20s but there will be high UV. And on
00:25Friday we could see more cloud just encroaching from the west and again a little rain associated
00:30with that front. Now, thunderstorm warning extends until 9pm anywhere across northern
00:35England down towards Nottinghamshire. But these showers will fade away. Also, across
00:40central and southern parts of Scotland where you have seen some today. Now it's going to
00:44turn cold, particularly across inland Scotland and Northern Ireland in the countryside, temperatures
00:49dipping down to low single figures. It's a chilly start to the day. Elsewhere, a bit
00:53more cloud across central and southern parts of England and Wales. Even the odd shower
00:58and a bit of a breeze down towards the far south-east. More cloud across the far north
01:01and north-west of Scotland through the first part of tomorrow and also some outbreaks of
01:05rain. The winds will pick up a little bit here. Elsewhere, the cloud breaks. We'll see
01:09some lovely sunshine coming through and the chance of a shower through the afternoon.
01:14Winds will be light. It's going to feel pleasantly warm in that sunshine. But notice across western
01:19Scotland you will see some wet weather through the afternoon. Elsewhere across Scotland it's
01:24fine and dry. Temperatures higher than what they have been coming in the high teens or
01:29low twenties. But do remember UV levels will be high. In fact, through Wednesday evening
01:35and overnight, clear skies yet again. More cloud just sinks southwards across Scotland
01:40and again a little bit of patchy rain comes and goes, particularly across the slopes of
01:44western Scotland down towards the central belt through the early hours of the morning.
01:48Elsewhere it's starry skies and that leads into a fine day for summer solstice. So through
01:53the day, strong sunshine. Temperatures, generally speaking, will be in the twenties, a bit cooler
01:59across the far north and west. And here's your outlook through Friday. As I said, there
02:03will be more clouds across the far west even with the odd spot or two of rain. Fine and
02:07dry elsewhere with some sunny spells.
