Transcript
00:00Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:04High pressure influences our weather right the way through this week.
00:08Subtle changes coming through on Thursday with a stronger wind across Scotland.
00:13Before that, into Wednesday, it's a quiet day, it's a calm one.
00:17Not a lot of wind around away from Shetland and clouds stuck under this high.
00:22There will be some brighter skies around and the air remains relatively mild for this time of year.
00:27Also, there's a weak weather front just sinking down across the central belt of Scotland through the evening
00:33with some patchy rain and drizzle.
00:35A lot of cloud for Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the far north of England.
00:39And for England and Wales, breaks occur, particularly across Yorkshire down towards the Midlands overnight.
00:44And here, temperatures dipping down to 8 or 9 degrees Celsius with some fog patches forming.
00:49And in fact, it's going to be a little bit colder towards the northeast of Scotland
00:53as temperatures in the Cairngorms again dip down to around 6 degrees Celsius.
00:57A breeze keeping temperatures slightly higher across Shetland as well as Orkney.
01:01Elsewhere, temperatures holding up around 10 to 12 degrees Celsius.
01:06So first thing tomorrow morning, yes, there's a fair amount of cloud around.
01:10And again, the odd spot or two of drizzle, particularly over north Pennine routes
01:14and the cloud breaking elsewhere as that fog lifts.
01:17So any changes in our weather through Wednesday will be slow.
01:21There's not a lot of forcing going on, but certainly there's a bit of a breeze coming in across the Western Isles
01:27and the far north of Scotland where we'll see more cloud and also some patchy rain.
01:31Elsewhere, it's a mostly dry day and bright for some, if not sunny.
01:35You can see some sunshine across Aberdeenshire down towards Angus and breaks in the cloud elsewhere.
01:40Temperatures then coming in around 15 or 16 degrees Celsius.
01:45So above average for this time of year.
01:48Through Thursday, as I said, a squeeze on the isobars across Scotland, the far north of England.
01:52High pressure sinks down towards the south and it will turn gusty over the Highlands, the southern uplands, as well as the north Pennines.
01:59At the same time, more cloud moves in with some outbreaks of rain across the far north of Scotland.
02:03So here's your outlook through Wednesday evening.
02:05Yet again, across more southern areas, the winds remain light under that cell of high pressure.
02:11But the winds will pick up across Scotland, a bit breezy also across Northern Ireland and the far north of England.
02:17But gusts could actually become quite strong across the Highlands as we head through Thursday.
02:23Outbreaks of rain across the far north of Scotland and on the upslopes across the northwest Highlands.
02:28Yes, you'll see more cloud and also some patchy rain elsewhere.
02:31Again, we'll see that cloud breaking from time to time across England and Wales, allowing for some brighter weather.
02:37And this is how we see Friday.
02:39Winds ease in the north, away from the far north, that's Shetland and Orkney.
02:43We'll see a fair amount of clouds trapped under that high pressure.
02:46Some broken clouds from time to time, allowing for some brighter skies.
02:49I'll see you later.
