03 July - National weather forecast presented by Rachel Ayers
Transcript
00:00Hello, and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04It's been generally unsettled this weekend, with a theme of sunshine and showers for most.
00:09And this is due to low pressure never being too far away, though looking ahead to Monday,
00:14an area of high pressure is pushing in from the south west, bringing some drier and more
00:20settled conditions for the start of next week.
00:23But for now, looking at the rest of this afternoon, showers will move from west to east, and these
00:28will be most frequent across Scotland and northern England, where it'll also be breezy
00:32and a touch cooler than elsewhere.
00:34Showers will be generally light to moderate in nature, but we could see the odd heavier
00:38spell across the north east.
00:41Away from the showers there'll be some decent sunny spells, helping temperatures to rise
00:44into the low 20s across southern and eastern England.
00:48Overnight, showers will fade for much of the UK, but further showers or longer spells of
00:53rain that could be heavy at times will spread across Northern Ireland, north west Scotland
00:58and into northern England during the early hours.
01:01It's here under the cloudier skies and with some stronger winds that temperatures will
01:05remain in the double digits, but across rural areas of central and southern parts of the
01:09UK, under clearer skies, temperatures will dip into the mid single figures.
01:14For Monday, across the southern half of the UK it'll be a mainly dry and fine day, with
01:20just the odd light shower affecting Wales and south west England.
01:24The overnight rain will clear north east England during the morning, to be followed by further
01:28showers in the north, but in general these will be light.
01:33Though with a bit more in the way of cloud in the north, it will remain cool throughout
01:36tomorrow, but in the south east, highs of 22 to 23 are expected.
