22 August - National weather forecast presented by Dan Stroud
Transcript
00:00Hello, it's been a bit of a messy picture across the country today, but we have seen
00:04some decent sunny spells and that has allowed temperatures to actually push up into the
00:08mid 20s. But we also have a fair amount of cloud across the south and west. And now looking
00:14at the latest radar, that cloud is given a little bit of light rain here and there. And
00:19during the course of the evening, that cloud with outbreaks of rain will spill ever so
00:23slightly further eastwards into parts of England, although the very far east actually joined
00:29some clear spells overnight. Overnight temperatures stand comfortably in double figures, especially
00:36across England and Wales, where we are likely to become increasingly warm and humid overnight
00:41as warmer air is drawn in from the south and west. Further north under clearing skies,
00:46temperatures dipping into single figures. Now there is a second band of cloud and rain
00:50expected to push eastwards across England and Wales during the course of Monday, and
00:55that will be accompanied by some heavy outbreaks of rain in places, but that rain reaching
01:00the east coast of England by mid afternoon. Temperatures generally around average for
01:06the time of year, with highs into the low to mid 20s across the south and the high teens
01:11further north. And that cloud and rain continues to edge eastwards out into the North Sea during
01:17the course of Monday evening, leaving the bulk of England and Wales with a fair amount
01:21of cloud and a few isolated showers across northern areas. And looking at the outlook
01:27periods are remaining generally changeable as we move into Tuesday and Wednesday, but
01:33there will be some warm if not very warm air not too far away from the south and east,
01:38with temperatures climbing into the mid to high 20s by midweek. Thank you for listening
