00:00Good morning, welcome to the latest update from the Met Office. It'll be a much more
00:04unsettled day today as we've seen low pressure move in overnight. That'll be bringing with
00:09it some weather fronts that have got some quite heavy bursts of rain on them. We've
00:13seen heavy rain already so far across Northern Ireland and there's a warning through the
00:18first part of this morning here. But then that rain pushes up into parts of north-eastern
00:22England, southern Scotland and there's a rain warning in force for here. There's been a
00:25lot of rain already over the weekend and last week so the ground is well saturated. Behind
00:31that, around the area of low pressure, we see some heavy showers developing. These will
00:36bring a risk of thunder and potentially some quite large hail too so it could be a very
00:41unsettled afternoon if you do get caught in one of these showers. It'll be on the milder
00:46side of things though with 10 or 11 degrees across many southern areas and there is a
00:50chance of a little bit of later sunshine. However, it will be quite gusty particularly
00:54across the south coast. A better chance of sunshine through the day will be across north-western
00:59parts of Scotland where they'll see the best of any drier and clearer weather through the
01:02afternoon as well as into this evening as well. And that clearer weather does push southwards
01:07into the rest of Scotland as well as Northern Ireland tonight so quite a different night
01:11tonight with long-lived clear spells leading to a bit of a frosty start to Wednesday. Further
01:16south there'll be a bit more cloud around but things do dry out generally here as well
01:21so temperatures again dipping below freezing across Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland
01:26and a little bit fresher tomorrow morning elsewhere too. However, across the east it
01:30does stay rather murky throughout tonight and into tomorrow morning as well. We could
01:33see some drizzly rain continuing through much of the day across parts of East Anglia as
01:38well as into the far south-east as well. Elsewhere though it'll be a much drier, brighter and
01:43a calmer day as well so it will feel a little bit more pleasant in the sunshine despite
01:48the chilly start and there will be a lot of dry weather on offer for the bulk of the
01:53UK by the afternoon tomorrow. However, cloud does thicken from the west throughout Wednesday
01:58afternoon and that marks the change to the next frontal system that will push eastwards
02:03across the country into Thursday. However, pressure is slowly but surely starting to
02:06build from the south and west and that will fizzle out much of the rain by the time it
02:11reaches eastern areas and bring signs of a slightly more settled end to the week. But
