00:00Hello, welcome to the latest from the Met Office. Now the rain from Thursday is starting
00:05to clear in the west but we'll see further heavy downpours arrive for Friday. So that
00:10Thursday's rain will push up into the north and east of Scotland throughout the early
00:15hours of Friday morning, allowing these next batch of showers to push into the southwest.
00:22Now between these two areas of rain we've got a clear slot, so a much drier evening
00:27than you will have seen throughout the day for parts of northern England and the southeast
00:31of England too. For all though, it's going to be another mild night with temperatures
00:36just above average for the time of year. Now with these showers in the southwest, we'll
00:41see the winds start to strengthen. We've got a strong southerly breeze that will last throughout
00:46much of Friday. The winds will be particularly strong across Irish sea coasts and they'll
00:52be pushing these showers northwards through the day. So where we see a brighter start
00:57across eastern areas, the afternoon it will turn cloudier with a greater risk of seeing
01:02some of these hefty downpours. There's a risk of thunderstorms in with these showers, so
01:07if you do get caught in one, it could last a little while and it could be quite unpleasant.
01:12However, we've still got relatively mild air for the time of year, so notice these temperatures
01:17are higher than average in the mid to high teens across a lot of the country. So if you
01:23do catch a sunny spell, it will feel quite warm for the time of year. Now into Friday
01:28evening, we'll see a bit more of that clearer weather arrive into southern and western areas
01:32of the country. But across northern Ireland and much of Scotland, it will remain cloudy
01:38and wet and breezy through the evening. The rest of the country will see the winds continue
01:43to remain relatively strong throughout Saturday, the early hours of Saturday. But for all of
01:49us, it will be another mild night, temperatures widely up into double digits across much of
01:56the UK. Now into the rest of Saturday, we start to see a bit of a change in our weather
02:01story as that low pressure from Friday pushes itself further north as well as those stronger
02:07winds allowing a kink in the ice bars to develop. Now that will bring higher pressure for many
02:13central and southern areas of the UK on Saturday, which means drier and brighter weather. But
02:19this area of low pressure down to the southwest will bring a further batch of rain into Sunday.
