00:00Good morning and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. Weather turning
00:04a little bit calmer as we head through this week and towards the middle part of the week
00:08and that's thanks to the jet stream being shunted a little bit further north-west. This
00:11is the jet stream in the pink showing where the strongest winds are and it's going to
00:15be shunted further towards the north-west of the country allowing high pressure to dominate
00:19across the south and the east of the country certainly towards the mid-week.
00:24Heading back to you this morning though, so across the far south-east of England it's
00:27going to be a fine and dry start to the day. This frontal system across the western part
00:32will slowly begin to sink south-east as we head through Tuesday morning. Those showers
00:36turning fewer and farther between by the time we head into the afternoon and plenty of sunny
00:40spells developing through Tuesday afternoon as well. Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland
00:46noticeably seeing less in the way of showers than on Monday and winds lighter for many
00:50but still fairly breezy across the north. Certainly for the Hebrides and for Orkney
00:54and Shetland it's still going to be quite a breezy day. Temperatures are best 11-13
00:59across the northern half of the country, warmer across the far south and feeling quite pleasant
01:03in sunshine and in shelter from the wind as well.
01:07Heading through Tuesday evening then, so the area of cloud and a couple of shower stills
01:10beginning to sink further south-east. Plenty of clear skies developing through Tuesday
01:14evening, just the odd shower of rain approaching into western parts but it will be turning
01:19cloudier for Northern Ireland and for parts of Scotland with that wind increasing as well
01:23in towards Wednesday morning. So again, under cloud and with that strengthening wind, fairly
01:28mild for Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland and down the western half of the UK on Wednesday
01:33morning. But where we do have those clear skies and light winds, temperatures falling
01:37back in towards single figures and it's on Wednesday morning where we'll see more in
01:41the way of mist and fog patches and these could just take a little bit longer to clear
01:45on Wednesday morning.
01:48But outside of any mist and fog patches, certainly across the south-eastern half of England,
01:52plenty of sunny spells to start the day. There will be the odd shower that could develop
01:55across the south but they will be quite few and far between. Elsewhere, fairly cloudy
02:00at first but some sunny spells developing through the afternoon and generally a fairly
02:03fine day through Wednesday. Noticing though that strengthening southerly wind across western
02:09parts, it will be turning breezier as we head through the afternoon as well.
02:13Temperatures again on Wednesday around the mid-teens across the southern half of the
02:16UK and temperatures beginning to pick up across Scotland too on Wednesday up towards 15 degrees
02:21with that southerly wind as well. So pleasant enough if you're in that sunshine and out
02:25of the breeze too.
02:29Heading through Wednesday evening, generally fine across the south but there will be change
02:32as we head through the later part of this week. If you want to find out any more on
02:35the weather, please do have a look at our YouTube channel.
