00:00A very good morning to you on this Thursday morning. It's a lively start to the day with
00:05rain and wind warnings in force. Let me take you through the details of that first. Now
00:10cumulatively over the last, well, 12 to 24 hours we've seen up to around 75 millimetres.
00:16That could be topped up through the next few hours a little bit higher here. And then a
00:19wind warning across central and southern parts of Scotland and north-west England. It's windy
00:24here with gales and gusts inland associated with this cold front up to around 50 miles
00:28an hour along the coastline up to 60 miles an hour. But it will improve. The winds will
00:33lose their sting. However, first thing, if you are stepping out, you're going to run
00:37into some rain away from the Western Isles across most of Scotland down towards northern
00:42England, particularly towards the north-west there, Cumbria, Lancashire, also Liverpool
00:46Bay, Merseyside. Brighter skies emerging already though across Northern Ireland come 7am this
00:51morning. We hang on to some rain across the far south-east. And it's a windy start without
00:56bricks of rain for western parts of Wales as well as the West Country. Filaments of
01:00rain just clipping the Midlands, eastern counters of England. Brighter skies towards the south-east
01:04but it is a breezy morning. So as we start the day, we watch as this band of rain here
01:10with its back edge just clearing the north-west, slowly pushing down towards central and eastern
01:17areas of England. Now we lose the intensity of the rain through the morning and we gain
01:22some sunshine across Scotland. Northern England through around lunchtime seeing that sun come
01:27out and Wales through the afternoon. Eventually the West Country also seeing some sunny spells
01:33as we see the rain, which will be patchy by this point, becoming confined to the south-east.
01:37East Anglia seeing more in the way of clouds and perhaps a few showers for Lincolnshire.
01:41But a brighter end to the day. Windy in the north-west of Scotland with a few showers
01:46but more rain waiting in the wings across Ireland. Before that though, temperatures
01:4916, 17 in the north, 20 to 21 further south and east. And it will be windy as we head
01:55into evening time across these parts. Now through Thursday evening, still some showers
02:01in the north. They could be heavy but they'll be scattered. And drier skies with some late
02:06sunshine. The central belt, eastern counters. Notice more cloud nudging up across southern
02:10parts of Northern Ireland and rain slowly moving across the Irish Sea towards Wales
02:16as we head through evening time. Elsewhere, a pleasant evening to come and that sun will
02:21actually make a difference after a bit of a wet afternoon across eastern counters. But
02:26more rain waiting in the wings and notice through Thursday evening, this evening it's
02:31pushing ever northwards as well as eastwards. We won't see the rain across the far north-west
02:37of Scotland but some showers here. The rain will intensify with strong winds if not gales
02:42across Irish Sea, particularly as we head into the early hours of Friday morning. And
02:47that swirl of cloud and rain then makes inroads towards eastern counters through the first
02:52part of the day before clearing. We'll see the clearance coming through across the far
02:56south-east around lunchtime on Friday into the afternoon. Sunshine then will emerge as
03:01scattering of showers in the north. We lose the winds across eastern counters. We gain
03:05some brighter weather and here's your outlook through Saturday. So it will be windy in the
03:10north-west on Saturday. Sunshine and showers elsewhere. Temperatures just below par in
03:15terms of seasonal average and then come Sunday, fine and dry across more central and southern
03:19areas and we continue to see those showers across the north as well as the north-west.
03:24Temperatures typically 16 or 17. Wherever you are, take care and I'll see you again
03:28soon.
