00:00Hello there and a very good morning to you on this Friday morning. It's been a
00:04lively night, wet and windy weather associated with storm Lillian which has
00:09been tracking in from the Atlantic. It's a small feature but it's potent. Strongest
00:14winds on its southern flank. Overnight we've seen gusts in excess of 70 miles
00:18an hour across exposure and also there's rain warnings as well as wind warnings
00:23this morning. Now the rain warnings across Dumfries and Galloway, western
00:26borders as well as Angus and Aberdeenshire over six hours up to
00:30around 50 millimetres in places. So some heavy rain to come associated with this
00:35frontal system. It's all moving its way eastwards and the strongest winds again
00:40across this southern part of the low and over the higher ground it's going to be
00:45very windy indeed damaging us likely through the next few hours. But it is
00:49moving its way eastwards so clearance expecting around lunchtime along this
00:54eastern side as this tailing front clears towards the far southeast during
00:59the first part of the afternoon. And the winds will ease a little bit through the
01:02day. However through the next few hours you can see where the heaviest rain is
01:06extending across central, eastern and southern parts of Scotland. Northern
01:10England as well, winds swirling around it. Clearer weather across the far
01:14northwest of Scotland. You haven't seen the storm overnight, you're seeing some
01:17sunshine and showers now for Northern Ireland. Brighter skies evolving, moving
01:22in across Wales as well as the West Country. But for the Midlands and the
01:25southeast, cloud here and also some outbreaks of rain. It's windy down
01:29towards the southeast. Strongest winds are always associated with this centre
01:33of the low which will move from the west towards the east through the first part
01:37of today. So as I said it is an improving picture. Winds will slowly ease as this
01:43low moves towards the North Sea. Now for Shetland and Orkney you've seen a mostly
01:48fine morning. A few showers as we head through the day. A breeze coming in
01:52across the western side of Scotland. Frequent showers as we head through the
01:56morning into the afternoon. And a scattering of showers which could turn
01:59heavy across Northern Ireland. But for the bulk of England and Wales it's a
02:03fine afternoon. You'll see some sunshine, a bit of a breeze coming through, even
02:06so some drier weather. Most the showers confined to the northern half of the UK.
02:11So let's take a look at the temperatures as we head through the afternoon. 15, 16,
02:1517 for Scotland and Northern Ireland. Republic of Ireland coming in around 18.
02:20Wales around 20, 21, 23 down towards the southeast. So through Friday evening and
02:26overnight further showers are likely particularly across Western Scotland as
02:30well as Northern Ireland. A cluster moving in also which could turn heavy
02:34across Northern England. But notice towards the south thickening cloud will
02:38again bring some outbreaks of rain. And this rain could turn heavy into the
02:42early hours of Saturday morning as the winds pick up particularly towards the
02:46far southeast. So first thing if you're stepping out across more northern areas
02:51on Saturday you could run into some heavy showers. Winds not as strong though.
02:55Some brighter weather for Northern Ireland. A few showers here and a cluster
02:58coming in across the western side of Wales, northwest England. But this bulk of
03:02cloud and rain will extend towards Lincolnshire as well as the southeast of
03:08England through the first part of Saturday. It is moving its way and
03:12clearing very slowly. But certainly through the morning you could see some
03:16wet weather as the winds pick up some strength particularly towards the
03:19southeast. Touching Galeforce possibly towards the far southeast there. But
03:24through the afternoon we'll see that rain gradually move towards the low
03:28countries as we see sunshine and showers elsewhere. And again these could turn
03:32heavy. So your outlook through Sunday. Sunday more in the way of clouds and
03:36some outbreaks of showery rain across the north as well as the west. Always the
03:39chance of showers further south and east and temperatures fairly fresh for
03:43this time of year. And here's your outlook through Monday. I'll see you
03:46later. Bye bye.
