00:00Hello there, welcome to your weather update from the Met Office. We have some heavy rain

00:04around over the next 48 hours which will be slow moving and it will cause some impacts

00:09in terms of flooding. The reason why an area of low pressure tracks across the country

00:14is fairly slow moving itself with some stronger winds associated with it. So most places seeing

00:19some rain but across some parts we could see in excess of 100 millimetres particularly

00:25northern parts of Wales over the higher ground, northwest England. For the time being if you

00:29are travelling you may run into a thunderstorm, northern Ireland, Wales, central southern

00:33England, the south east but they will tend to fade away as this rain really makes its

00:38mark through the latter part of Tuesday and into the early hours of Wednesday. Now notice

00:42some bright echoes representing some heavy pulses and that really will be the name of

00:47the game through Wednesday as well. So rain warning covering this zone here, much of England

00:52and Wales. Further north, higher along this east coast, northeast England, inland it's

00:57dry but some showery bursts extending from western Scotland down towards northern Ireland

01:02through the first part of Wednesday morning. It's a relatively mild start to the day but

01:06always feeling cool through Wednesday under this cloud and rain and for some you'll see

01:11rain right the way through the day. It's slowly moving its way northwards through the first

01:16part of Wednesday morning but if you are travelling across England and Wales you may run into

01:20some problems with surface water issues. Certainly rivers will become swollen as the rain persists

01:25across Wales, northern parts of England and eventually southern Scotland seeing that rain.

01:30Now towards the north of that, that low cloud will tend to thin at times, you may get some

01:35dry weather before this rain pivots round with the centre of the low across the North

01:39Sea bringing with it some heavy pulses through the latter part of Wednesday, pushing towards

01:44western Scotland, clipping northern Ireland and that rain persisting across the west midlands

01:49Wales as well as north west England. Now through Wednesday evening and overnight that rain

01:54continues. Any showers in the south which have developed through the day will linger

01:57on here as well with the risk of thunder and we could see some heavy downpours but notice

02:02across northern Scotland some high rainfall totals with this slow moving rain as it continues

02:08to circulate round the centre of the low and with that a wet end to the night particularly

02:13across the north as well as the west pushing down towards the midlands as well. A relatively

02:17mild start to Thursday yet again but for many it's going to be a wet one. So you can see

02:22where the rain is, low cloud at that, further south you'll see some drier skies but yet

02:27again one or two showers could develop through the day. Winds will be strong particularly

02:32across this western side of the UK and pushing up towards eastern parts of Scotland where

02:37we'll see an onshore breeze and feeling cool here. The rain turns more showery through

02:41Thursday afternoon but these rain warnings across central, eastern and southern parts

02:45of Scotland extend until 6pm on Thursday. Through Friday we'll see those showers fade

02:51away, it will turn a bit warmer into the weekend and then the risk of further showers

02:55on Sunday. I'll see you later.
