25 October - National weather forecast presented by Ellie Glaisyer.
Transcript
00:00Hello, it's been a very unsettled couple of days and it doesn't look like much is changing
00:04as we head through the rest of this week. Low pressure very much in charge of our weather
00:08at the moment out towards the east of the UK. A brief interlude through Wednesday brings
00:12something a little more settled. However, low pressure out to the west brings something
00:16further wet and windy and unsettled as we head through the second half of the week and
00:20towards next weekend. Back to the here and now though and it's been a very damp start,
00:25particularly along the south coast of the UK. Some heavy rain that will slowly push
00:29its way south and eastwards as we head through Wednesday morning. Elsewhere, plenty of sunny
00:34spells to start the morning. Across Wales, central England, there should be some sunshine
00:37through the morning and into the afternoon. Further north though, parts of northern England
00:40and into parts of Scotland seeing some persistent rain through this afternoon. Not quite as
00:44heavy as we saw over recent days but any further rain not very welcome in these areas that
00:49have seen those impacts. Temperatures on Wednesday are round about average for the time of year
00:5413, 14, maybe 15 across the south of the UK and further north around 11 or 12 degrees.
01:01As we head through Wednesday evening, that rain across Scotland continues to push in
01:05from the east overnight, although we'll gradually start to ease as we head into the early hours
01:09of Thursday morning. Elsewhere, plenty of close skies around to start, however, turning
01:13increasingly cloudy as a band of rain pushes up from the southwest overnight into Thursday
01:18morning, turning drier behind this front but quickly turning showery as well with some
01:23of those showers perhaps turning quite heavy at times through Thursday morning. Quite a
01:27mild night as well, particularly across the south of the UK under all that cloud and rain.
01:31Temperatures here holding up into the double figures but under the clear skies further
01:34north, we could be dropping down into the low single figures in some rural spots and
01:38possibly a touch of frost across the very far west of Scotland as well. So for many
01:43on Thursday, it'll be a very grey and damp start to the day. That band of rain across
01:47the central part of the UK slowly pushes its way towards the north and east through the
01:50day, turning drier and brighter behind but those showers quickly pushing in from the
01:55southwest through Thursday afternoon. They could turn quite heavy at times, particularly
01:59along that south coast, the odd rumble of thunder possible across the southeast through
02:02Thursday afternoon. Further rain as well expected across eastern parts of Scotland and again
02:07this could be a bit heavier than we're likely to see through today, so further impacts possible
02:11after all the rain they've seen over the past few days. Temperatures likely to be similar
02:15to today on Thursday, highs of 14 or 15 degrees across the south and around 11 to 13 degrees
02:21across northern parts, which is around about average for the time of year. As we head through
02:25the rest of the week, those unsettled conditions do continue but you can keep up to date with
02:29that forecast via our website and don't forget to follow us on social media. Bye bye.
