00:00Good afternoon and welcome to your latest weather forecast from the Met Office.

00:04The weather is turning increasingly unsettled as we go through the coming weekend

00:07and it's all down to this powerful jet stream moving in from the Atlantic Ocean

00:11which picks up these areas of low pressure and deepens them as they come towards the UK.

00:16This area of low pressure on Sunday will bring a particularly wet and windy picture

00:19to many parts of England and Wales with some heavy rain in places

00:22and it stays unsettled into the new working week.

00:25Back to Saturday afternoon though and many south eastern areas of England

00:28are getting away with a dry picture with some spells of sunshine.

00:31Cloudier elsewhere across England and Wales with outbreaks of rain at times

00:35heaviest around western hills and brighter with sunshine and showers

00:38across many parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.

00:41Quite a windy picture for all areas today with some gales around some of these western coasts.

00:46Through Saturday evening it stays mostly cloud with still some further outbreaks of rain in places.

00:52A few clearer slots in the cloud across northern Scotland may allow temperatures

00:55to briefly get down close enough to freezing to give a touch of frost here

00:59but for many areas it's a mild and frost free night to come

01:02with some heavy rain developing across Wales and south west England later in the night.

01:07A yellow rainfall warning is in place across south Wales on Sunday

01:11with further outbreaks of heavy and persistent rain spreading their way north eastwards

01:14across many parts of England and Wales and southern Scotland.

01:17A bit brighter across northern Scotland with a few showers.

01:20Mild for everyone though with temperatures in double figures across England and Wales.
