00:00Good afternoon and welcome to your latest weather forecast from the Met Office.
00:04There's been some sunshine in many parts of the country this morning,
00:07but heavy and blustery showers will work their way across many areas through this afternoon,
00:11a risk of hail and thunder in some places, and there'll also be some strong gusty winds at times.
00:17Still very mild though for the time of year,
00:19and the pattern across northwest Europe is dominated by low pressure keeping the weather unsettled,
00:24but as we go into Tuesday, those winds swing to a northwesterly direction,
00:28bringing much colder conditions southwards from the Arctic,
00:31and some severe gales across the north of Scotland,
00:34with some wintry showers in many northern parts of the UK.
00:38Back to this afternoon though,
00:40and we have got this band of heavy and squally showers working its way eastwards across Wales,
00:45central and southern parts of England,
00:48with a thunderstorm warning in effect across central and southeastern parts of England through Sunday afternoon.
00:53Elsewhere, a mixture of sunshine and scattered heavy showers,
00:57still a risk of some hail and thunder across Northern Ireland and Scotland too,
01:01another very mild day for the time of year, but not quite as mild as it has been.
01:05Still quite breezy through this evening in many places,
01:08further showers working from west to east across the country,
01:11most frequent in the west, with the best of the drier and clearer spells further east,
01:16and more longer spells of rain and hill snow developing across northern Scotland.
01:20This is a cold front, and behind it it will turn much colder across northern Scotland later in the night.
01:25Elsewhere though, another relatively mild night for the time of year.
01:29Through Monday morning, and we continue with the showery theme,
01:33a more organised band of rain spreading southwards across Scotland and into Northern Ireland,
01:38perhaps turning to snow over the hills on the back edge,
01:41much colder conditions arriving across other parts of northern Scotland,
01:44with wintry showers and much lower temperatures,
01:47but for much of England and Wales still relatively mild,
01:50some bright spells, but cloudier towards the south with the threat of some rain later in the day.
01:55By Tuesday though, those much colder conditions will have established across the whole of the country,
02:00some very strong winds likely at times, with severe gales in northern Scotland,
