00:00Good afternoon and welcome to your latest weather forecast from the Met Office.
00:04It's a wet afternoon across many southern areas of the UK with some heavy rain in many places.
00:09Elsewhere though skies are brighter but there are also a number of blustery showers,
00:13these increasingly heavy with the odd rumble of thunder and some hail mixed in.
00:17It's also quite windy in places with some strong gusty winds in the south in particular.
00:22Low pressure keeps it unsettled across northwestern parts of Europe through this weekend.
00:26Another band of rain sinks its way south eastwards through Monday but then high
00:30pressure builds across the whole of the UK through Tuesday and Wednesday
00:33bringing an increasing chance of frost and fog overnight but plenty of sunshine by day.
00:39Back to Saturday afternoon and it's England and Wales where the wettest of the weather is.
00:43Some heavy bursts of rain clearing away to the east as well as that some strong gusty
00:48winds for a time particularly across the south coast. Elsewhere some sunshine but also a fair
00:53number of heavy blustery showers and they will fall increasingly wintry over the higher ground
00:58of Scotland and Northern Ireland as we go through the afternoon. Through Saturday evening that band
01:03of rain clears away from the east coast of England and then it's a mixture of clear spells and fairly
01:08frequent blustery showers particularly in the west and some of these will be falling as sleet and
01:13snow over the higher ground of Scotland, northwest England and Northern Ireland.
01:17So a slight ice risk in places here but there will be quite a widespread frost
01:22in the countryside and temperatures falling to around one or two degrees in many towns and cities.
01:28Through Sunday and it's a brighter day for many parts of the UK, the best of the sun shine towards
01:33more eastern areas where it may well stay dry with just the odd shower. A band of more organised
01:39showers will work its way south eastwards across southwest Scotland, Northern Ireland
01:43into northwest England and for many places it will feel a tad colder tomorrow compared to Saturday.
01:49It turns cloudy across the southwest later in the day with a band of rain approaching.
01:53Through into Monday and a band of rain sinks its way south eastwards across the UK and then high
01:59pressure builds bringing plenty of dry and fine weather with some sunshine by day but an increasing
02:04risk of frost and fog overnight. For further details you can always follow us on our social
