00:00Hello again, as we move into the second half of the weekend the weather is set to stay mainly
00:03cloudy for most of us with some rain in places, but where we see the skies brighten on Sunday
00:09it will be very mild in the south and then it turns very stormy in the far northwest later.
00:14It's all down to this developing area of low pressure that's moving towards the UK,
00:18undergoing a rapid deepening process as it engaged with the jet stream on Sunday,
00:22bringing some very strong winds to the far northwest of Scotland and later the northern
00:26isles on Sunday night and it stays unsettled into Monday with rain in places. Back to Saturday
00:32evening though and it's a cloudy and damp picture out there for many parts of England and Wales,
00:36there's outbreaks of rain and drizzle at times, most persistent in the west of England and across
00:41parts of Wales, further north some clear periods particularly for Scotland but also some showers
00:46in the far northwest and underneath the best of the clear skies in eastern parts of Scotland,
00:51temperatures will fall low enough to give a touch of frost in places. Elsewhere though,
00:55particularly in the south, a very mild night to come with lows not falling below double figures.
01:00Through Sunday, and it's a cloudy start today for most of us, there'll be outbreaks of rain
01:04spreading their way northwards through northern Ireland and into southern Scotland. To the south
01:09though, across England and Wales, skies will tend to brighten and there'll be some sunny spells
01:13developing and it'll be a very mild day, particularly where we see the best of the sunshine with 13 or
01:1814 degrees in many places, well above average for the time of year. It turns windier though as we
01:24go into the evening, particularly in the west with some gales developing around these iris-y coasts
01:29and across northern Ireland and into western Scotland as this area of low pressure and bands
01:34of rain start to make their way eastwards. Taking a closer look at the winds and we can really see
01:39how those gusts start to pick up through Sunday evening, particularly across the far northwest of
01:44Scotland with the Isle of Lewis most prone to seeing gusts of 80 to 90 miles an hour, but also
01:49the Orkney Isles and Shetland also at risk of damaging winds on Sunday night. It stays unsettled
01:54into the early part of next week with some wet and windy weather for many of us, but it will also
01:58become much drier later in the week as we start to see high pressure building. For all the latest
02:03information though, please do follow us on social media or you can also download the Met Office app.
02:08Bye for now.
