00:00Hello again and welcome to your latest weather forecast from the Met Office.

00:04As we move into Monday we'll see a band of rain and hill snow slowly sinking its way southwards

00:09across more northern areas. Elsewhere some dry and bright periods at times just a few showers

00:14but turning much colder from the north later and very windy conditions developing in northern

00:19Scotland by the evening. Low pressure will dominate northwestern parts of Europe through

00:23the coming few days keeping it unsettled but much colder air floods southwards from the arctic by

00:29Tuesday to all parts of the UK bringing much colder conditions a risk of wintry showers

00:34particularly in the north and some very strong winds in northern Scotland for a time.

00:40Back to Sunday evening though and we've still got a number of showers working their way from west

00:45to east across the country heaviest towards more western coasts with driving clearer spells more

00:50likely the further east you live. With that breeze continuing though it will keep temperatures up

00:56into high single figures in most places tonight but across northern Scotland a band of rain and

01:02hill snow will develop with much colder air behind that with temperatures falling much closer to

01:07freezing by the end of the night. That band of rain and hill snow continues to work its way

01:12southwards across Scotland into northern Ireland and northern England on Monday. Behind that much

01:18colder but brighter skies with wintry showers and strong winds developing across the far north of

01:22Scotland for much of England and Wales though a fairly bright and mild picture some sunny spells

01:28just one or two showers in places once again a mild day for most parts of England and Wales but

01:33much much colder further north. Through Monday evening we see a risk of some rain flirting with

01:38the south coast of England for a time meanwhile that band of rain and hill snow continues to work

01:43its way southwards across northern England and into north Wales. By Tuesday though much sunnier

01:48conditions for many inland areas but wintry showers across the north particularly the northeast

01:54of Scotland where some very strong to severe gales are likely at times and a return to overnight frost
