00:00Hello there. Through the rest of Bank Holiday Monday, we are looking at a band of rain and
00:04hill snow pushing south across the north of the country. Further south it should be largely dry.
00:09Looking at the bigger picture, over the next few days after a very mild start to the new year,
00:13it will turn colder. Windier too, particularly across the north east of the UK. Perhaps
00:17something a little bit milder later on Wednesday and into Thursday. Back to Monday afternoon,
00:23we can see a band of rain, sleet and hill snow pushing south across parts of Northern Ireland,
00:27Southern Scotland, Northern England through the day. Behind this, sunny spells and scattered
00:32wintry showers. Some snow over the higher ground here. Across much of England and Wales,
00:36a lot of cloud around. A few sharp showers across parts of Wales, South West England.
00:41Mild here still. Highs around 11 or 12 Celsius. But notice the colder air filtering in across
00:46parts of Scotland and eventually Northern Ireland and Northern England later on today.
00:51Turning icy across parts of Scotland as frequent snow showers move in through this evening and
00:56overnight here. Clearing skies across Northern Ireland, Northern England will allow a patchy
01:00frost. But that weather front does sit across parts of England and Wales. So here it'd be quite
01:04cloudy. Some outbreaks of rain but also the risk of some hill snow in places too. Perhaps a little
01:09bit of snow to lower levels but not accumulating. Here temperatures falling close to freezing to
01:14the south of that weather front holding up four or five degrees. Icy stretches across the north of
01:19the UK as temperatures fall to freezing in towns and cities and below freezing in the countryside.
01:25This will lead to a cold, icy and frosty start across the northern half of the UK through Tuesday
01:30morning. But blue skies for many of us. Through the day though the wind will continue to increase
01:35further gusts of 60 to 70 miles an hour. Driving in frequent snow showers across Scotland. Some
01:40blizzard conditions developing here at times. Elsewhere plenty of sunshine. Rain eventually
01:45clearing the far southeast. Wintry showers following in across the north and the west of
01:50the UK and blustery for everyone. With those winds coming down from a northerly direction it
01:55will be a cold feeling day. Much colder than what we've been used to. Temperatures really struggling
02:00to get much above freezing across some parts of Scotland. Elsewhere four to seven celsius at the
02:07very best. Add on the strength of the wind it will feel more like freezing if not below for many of
02:12us. Warnings in place for those winds right through Tuesday as well as snow accumulating 10 to 15
02:19centimetres over the higher ground of Scotland. Taking a look at the rest of the week it's going
02:24to be changeable. There will be some rain, sleet and snow at times. Some sunshine. Windy at times
02:28too and feeling cold throughout. For more information follow us on social media.
