00:00Hello, and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:04Monday will start off chilly for many, though it will become increasingly cloudy through
00:08the day with rain across the north and west, and this is due to a low pressure system tracking
00:14north of the UK. This will also bring milder air across the UK after that chilly start.
00:20But back to tonight, clear spells will develop allowing for some local mist and fog patches
00:24across central and southern parts of England. After midnight, cloud will feed in from the
00:29west, bringing some outbreaks of rain across Northern Ireland and western parts of Scotland.
00:35Under those clear skies tonight, it will be rather chilly, particularly in the east, where
00:38we could see a grass frost with lows in towns and cities of around 3. In some rural spots,
00:44especially in northern England and Scotland, temperatures could drop to freezing.
00:49After that chilly start in the east, it will be a mainly dry day on Monday, with the best
00:53of any sunny spells during the morning. Cloud cover will increase from the west, bringing
00:57outbreaks of rain and strong wind, with the heaviest rain across Scotland and the far
01:02north-west of England. Though it will be milder tomorrow, with a high of 14.
01:08Tomorrow afternoon, rain will continue in the north and west, but ease slightly with
01:12some light rain pushing further south.
01:16Looking ahead to the rest of the week, it looks set to be changeable with wet and windy
01:20spells, though some drier interludes also. It will be generally mild, with temperatures
01:24near 2 or just above average.
