00:00Hello and welcome to the latest weather forecast from the Met Office.
00:03It's been a very wet and windy start to Halloween and it will stay windy through Sunday afternoon
00:09with showers or longer spells of rain but there will also be some sunshine for many of us in between.
00:14Looking at the bigger picture and it's the jet stream that's caused this area of low pressure to deepen
00:18as it's moved north-eastwards across the country through this morning.
00:21It maintains this showery north-westerly flow through Monday and Tuesday
00:25but some dry and sunny interludes in between
00:28although winds coming down from the north will make it feel much colder than of late
00:32with a risk of overnight frost and fog.
00:34Back to Sunday afternoon though and we have a number of weather warnings for wind and rain in force.
00:39The rain though becoming more focused across Scotland through the afternoon.
00:43Heavy frequent blustery showers moving in from the west though
00:47and some strong to gale force winds particularly in the west
00:50with severe gales likely around the coasts of Wales and the southwest.
00:54In that wind it's going to feel quite chilly with highs of just 13 or 14 at best.
00:59Through Sunday evening that arc of rain continues to swirl around the area of low pressure
01:05bringing frequent showers into many northern and western and central parts of the UK.
01:10The best of any drier and clearer periods will be down towards the southeast if you're out trick-or-treating.
01:15It stays windy particularly across the northwest and around the coasts
01:19with wind warnings and rainfall warnings remaining in force here
01:23and for everyone quite a chilly night.
01:26For Monday morning itself another showery day is in place
01:31with frequent showers across the north and the west
01:34longer periods of rain at times across the northwest of Scotland
01:37some sunshine in between particularly in the south
01:40but for everyone feeling quite chilly in that wind
01:43which will still be strong in places particularly around the coast
01:46with highs of 12 or 13 degrees at best.
01:49Through Monday and Tuesday the showers become more focused around the coasts
01:53longer dry and sunny interludes for many of us
