13 February - National weather forecast presented by Dan Stroud.
Transcript
00:00Hello. February has turned very unsettled, with more wind and rain expected over the
00:05coming week. Rain has already made an early appearance across many parts of the west,
00:10and we have a yellow rain warning valid for parts of Wales. That rain will continue to
00:15move across many parts of the country during the course of the morning and early afternoon,
00:20becoming locally heavy and persistent in places. It's also rather windy, and that wind rather
00:26across the south coast. Temperatures into double figures across many parts of England and Wales,
00:31although it will feel quite miserable for areas under that rain and cloud.
00:35So rain continues to move eastwards overnight, so starting to dry up from the west for a time,
00:41although rain starting to tail back in across parts of Scotland from the east.
00:45Overnight temperatures above average, with overnight lows of around 6 or 7 across the south,
00:51and lows of 4 across the north. So that unsettled theme continues into Monday,
00:57with further outbreaks of showery rain, perhaps merging into longer spells of rain for some parts
01:03of the country, although that rain starting to ease during the course of the afternoon,
01:07with some brighter spells developing. Temperatures generally above average,
01:10with highs of 9 or 10 across the south, and 7 across the north. And that unsettled theme
01:16continues into the new working week, with a powerful jet stream fuelling some deep areas
01:21of low pressure poised to cross the country in the middle of the week, bringing widespread wind
01:25and rain across the north. Thank you for listening, and please check our social media channels for
01:30the latest updates. Bye for now.
