00:00Hello, and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. We've got some
00:03fairly chilly weather in store across the UK during the week ahead. At the moment, high
00:07pressure centred towards the north of the UK, drawing in some fairly chilly air from
00:11the east. But notice those winds start to turn around into a northerly direction from
00:14about Tuesday or Wednesday onwards, and that will start to drag down even colder air from
00:18the north. And by Wednesday, there's an increasing risk of snow, particularly across the high
00:22ground in Scotland, but also to some lower levels. In fact, the Met Office have already
00:25issued a snow warning for some northern parts of Scotland through the day on Wednesday.
00:29Looking at things in more detail then for the overnight period, those outbreaks of rain
00:33towards the north-west of Scotland will ease, allowing plenty of dry weather to develop
00:36across many western parts of the UK as we head into the early hours of Sunday. But notice
00:41out towards the east, showers packing in from the east there across the eastern parts of
00:44England, up across the eastern parts of Scotland, working across the rest of northern England
00:48into parts of the east of Northern Ireland, and also into parts of Wales by the end of
00:52the night. One or two of those showers on the heavy side, and also a bit of snow across
00:56the tops of the hills. Temperatures on the face of it just about holding up above freezing
01:00in most places, but out towards the north-west is some sheltered spots. We could see temperatures
01:04down to freezing, so a touch of frost in places here by the morning on Sunday.
01:09As for Sunday itself, well, a cloudier day is likely in store on the whole than on Saturday,
01:14and those showers continue to feed in from the east across many central and north-eastern
01:18parts of the UK. Still quite heavy in nature during the morning, but starting to ease as
01:21we go into the afternoon, whereas out towards the west and north-west, generally a bit drier
01:26and more in the way of bright spells developing here. Temperatures still quite chilly, no
01:31better than 5 to 7 degrees on the thermometer, and in fact if we add on the effect of that
01:34keen and increasing easterly winds, it's going to feel like near to freezing in one or two
01:38spots down to one or two degrees in places. As we head into Monday, well, another rather
01:44cloudy day is in store, further showers coming in from the east across the central and north-eastern
01:48parts of the UK. Again, the best of the sunshine out towards the west, and still quite a chilly
01:52feel with temperatures no better than 5 to 7 Celsius.
01:56That's pretty much it for me, but of course you can keep tuned to the Met Office forecast
01:59by following us on social media. I'll see you soon, take care, bye bye for now.
