00:00Hello, good afternoon, and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:03It's a pretty cloudy end to the weekend across the UK and quite a chilly one too. That's all
00:08down to high pressure being centred to the north, low pressure down towards the south,
00:11generating that fairly brisk easterly airstream. Notice the fairly tightly packed ice bars there
00:15indicating just how breezy it will be. And that easterly breeze is also feeding some showers in
00:20across the north of England. Eastern parts of Scotland also seeing a few hefty showers this
00:24afternoon. One or two on the wintry side across the highest ground, whereas out towards the west
00:28it's generally drier and also brighter, particularly towards the west of Scotland.
00:32Despite the sunshine though, temperatures are struggling, no better than 5 to 7 degrees.
00:36Add on the effect of that easterly wind and it's going to feel more like one or two degrees out
00:40and about. So certainly a pretty chilly afternoon and you'll need to wrap up warm if you are heading
00:44out and about. Looking at things then as we go into the evening and during the overnight period,
00:48we hold on to cloud and showers across the east and northeast of the UK. Again,
00:52a few heavy ones around here and one or two wintry ones as well across the highest ground.
00:56Out towards the west, fewer showers, the best of the clear spells, particularly across the west
01:00of Scotland once more, and under those clear spells we'll see a touch of frost by the morning
01:03on Monday. Temperatures under the clear slots, down close to freezing, but with the cloud,
01:08showers and the breeze elsewhere, values holding up around about 3 to 5 degrees.
01:13The new working week then gets off to a pretty cloudy start once more. Further showers are
01:16coming across those eastern areas, again one or two on the heavy side. Out towards the west,
01:20fewer showers, although Northern Ireland notice seeing some showers as we go through the day,
01:24but generally on the whole it's the west seeing the best of the sunshine. Again,
01:27western Scotland doing quite well sunshine wise. Temperatures are struggling still for the time
01:32of year, no better than 5 to 8 degrees, although that's a degree or so up on those values on Sunday.
01:37A quick look ahead to the middle part of the coming week and a heads up that we've got even
01:41colder air moving in from the north across the UK. In fact, the Met Office already have
01:45a yellow snow warning in force across the north of Scotland throughout the day on Wednesday.
01:49For more details on that warning and of course to keep abreast of the general weather forecast,
01:53you can follow us on social media. I'll see you soon, take care for now, bye bye.
