00:00Hello, and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:03Sunday was a rather cloudy day across the UK, with showers in places the best of the
00:06sunshine out towards the west.
00:08We hold onto a similar east-west split overnight tonight, plenty of showers focused across
00:12the east and north-east of the UK, some of those quite heavy, even a bit wintry across
00:16some of the hilltops.
00:17Whereas out towards the west and north-west, here we'll see drier conditions, the best
00:20of the clear spells and the lowest temperatures too.
00:23Temperatures dipping down to around freezing here, so a touch of frost.
00:26With the cloud, the breeze and the showers towards the south and east, here temperatures
00:29holding up around 3-6 degrees.
00:31Monday then looks to be another rather cloudy day across the bulk of the UK, further showers
00:35to come across the east and north-east in particular.
00:38Here quite heavy in the morning, again a chance of a bit of winterness across the hilltops.
00:42The driest conditions, the brightest conditions generally out towards the west and north-west,
00:46certainly across western parts of Scotland, here in fact we could see unbroken sunshine
00:50at times through the day.
00:52Still quite chilly for the time of year, temperatures ranging from 5-8 degrees, although that's
00:55a degree or two up on Sunday's values.
00:58As we go through Tuesday into Wednesday, we start to lose that cold easterly feed of air,
01:02but start to draw down an even colder northerly air stream, so we start to see an increase
01:06in chance of wintry showers.
01:08Showers mainly focused across the north of Scotland and across western and eastern most
01:12parts of the UK.
01:13So many central areas, the spine of the UK there, seeing plenty of sunshine, but notice
01:18those temperatures really struggling, no better than 3-6 degrees, and we're quite concerned
01:21by the amount of snowfall expected across the north of Scotland.
01:24In fact, the Met Office have a yellow snow warning in force throughout the day on Wednesday.
01:28Here we could see 2-5 centimetres of snow at quite low levels, up to around 10 centimetres
01:33of snow above 200 metres.
01:35To keep tuned to the forecast and those warning updates, you can of course follow us on social
01:39media.
01:40I'll see you soon.
01:41Take care.
01:42Bye bye.
