3 December - National weather forecast presented by Marco Petagna
Transcript
00:00Hello and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. We're set to see some
00:04fairly chilly conditions across the UK over the next few days. Yes, there'll be some sunshine
00:08but equally a fair few showers and an increasing chance of snow, particularly across the north
00:12of the UK as we head through the coming week as those winds start to swing into a cold
00:16northerly direction.
00:17Looking at things in more detail for the rest of this afternoon, we've got some patchy rain
00:21out towards the far north-west of the UK and some showers moving in across eastern parts
00:25from off the North Sea. One or two of those on the heavy side. Elsewhere, isolated showers
00:29but plenty of bright weather, particularly out across western and south-western areas.
00:33And although temperatures are reaching 6 or 7 degrees in the south, possibly 9 or 10 towards
00:37the north-west, it's going to feel much colder out and about given that easterly breeze.
00:42In fact, across the south of the UK it's going to feel more like 3 or 4 degrees this afternoon
00:45so you'll certainly need to wrap up warm if you're heading out and about.
00:49As we head through the evening into the overnight period, the rain towards the north-west of
00:52the UK will start to move away towards the north-west and the ease, so the best of the
00:56dry weather tonight when clear spells start to be out across western and north-western
01:00areas. But notice those showers out across the east start to become heavier, more widespread,
01:05feeding westwards through the night into parts of Northern Ireland, parts of Wales, but certainly
01:09focused across northern England, central and eastern parts of Scotland. You can even see
01:13a bit of winterness across the hills here. And although temperatures generally holding
01:16up just above freezing, in one or two rural spots, particularly towards the north and
01:20west, we could see a touch of frost.
01:22As for Sunday, well it's said to be a cloudier day than Saturday, still plenty of showers
01:26out towards the east and north-east of the UK, certainly through the morning, starting
01:29to ease as we head into the afternoon. Elsewhere, quite a bit of cloud around, so again the
01:33best of the brightness out towards the far west and south-west of the UK, quite cloudy
01:37notice there down towards the south-east. And temperatures, well, around about 5 to
01:418 degrees, so certainly lower than they should be for the time of year. With the strengthening
01:45Easter debris, it's actually feeling colder, close to freezing in one or two spots tomorrow,
01:49so a pretty chilly afternoon to come on Sunday.
01:52That's pretty much it for me, but of course you can keep tuned to the Met Office forecast
01:55by following us on social media. I'll see you soon, take care, bye bye.
