00:00Hello, welcome to your latest national weather forecast from the Met Office, a blue sky Monday
00:05for large parts of the UK. Dry and bright out there, but it is quite chilly, especially
00:11so across the south. There is an area of low pressure, a lot of cloud from that spilling
00:15in and toppling around the far north of the country. Quite high cloud here, though, so
00:19just really making the sunshine fairly hazy. Some thicker cloud across the central parts.
00:24We did see one or two early showers over eastern England. They're fizzling out, so for most
00:28it's dry and bright out there. And in the sunny spells, temperatures getting up to the
00:32high single figures below average for the time of year. And certainly it does feel quite
00:37cold in the south with a fairly stiff wind blowing here. The breeze will continue to
00:42strengthen for all of us through the evening and overnight. We'll keep a bit of cloud across
00:46eastern parts at first, but that should tend to melt away. The cloud thick enough in the
00:51west at times, maybe for one or two showers. The odds are silly and Cornwall, but for the
00:55vast majority it's a dry night and a clear night. We will see a frost forming too, especially
01:00on the spine of the country, even towns and cities minus one or minus two. And rural spots
01:06a little lower than that. So another chilly start on Tuesday, but another by and large
01:10fine and sunny day, certainly over the Midlands, northern and eastern England and most of Scotland.
01:15Plenty of blue skies again on Tuesday for the west. Cloud increasing, though, and we'll
01:19see some showery rain trickle into Northern Ireland, West Wales, southwest England by
01:24the end of the day. We'll be turning milder here with temperatures more widely into double
01:28figures, but not feeling all that pleasant with the breeze and the cloud and the patchy
01:33rain further east where we keep the sunshine temperatures still only in high single figures
01:37at best. And the wind will be stronger. So again, we're feeling colder than those numbers
01:42suggest. Through the course of Tuesday evening, the showery rain will become a little more
01:47extensive over parts of Scotland, northwest England, maybe into the Midlands too before
01:52that kind of fizzles out. That is the first of one of a few weather fronts that will try
01:57and push across the country through the rest of this week. Low pressure out to the west,
02:01high pressure out to the east. And as the weather fronts bump up against the high, they
02:05initially bring some rain into the west before then kind of fizzling out. Often the ice bars
02:10fairly close together, though. So through this week, it will be quite windy. But the
02:13wind's coming up from the south, so bringing milder air. So an interesting week of weather
02:18ahead. Temperatures will be ticking up. There will be some rain at times, especially in
02:23the west. A full week ahead forecast will be available on our YouTube channels by Monday
02:27afternoon.
