00:00Hello. Sparkling winter sunshine for many parts of the country again today but it
00:05was a foggy and a frosty start and we will again get fog and frost in the
00:08south overnight. Now this is the view from space largely clear skies to the
00:13south but a lot of cloud further north. It's breaking up a little bit but still
00:16thick enough in places for a bit of drizzly rain here and there particularly
00:19southwest Scotland and the east of Northern Ireland. Further south we have
00:23had some thick fog taking a while to clear away but it should disappear for
00:27most and then generally sunny skies for the majority through the rest of today.
00:32The breeze picking up a little bit across the northwest that's going to
00:35strengthen further overnight and for tomorrow. Temperature wise well lifting
00:39with the help of that February sunshine 8, 9 degrees so close to average but a
00:43little mild across parts of northeast England and northeast Scotland where we
00:47could see double digits. Temperatures though will drop pretty sharply this
00:51evening. It's going to be another frosty one where we've got these clear skies
00:54across the Midlands, much of Wales, southern England, East Anglia, parts of
00:58northern England too and northern Scotland with some clear skies could see
01:02a frost for a time but generally here we will see a lot more cloud. As well as the
01:07frost in the south the fog will yet again thicken up and that's likely to be
01:12pretty dense through the early hours and for Wednesday mornings rush out.
01:16Temperature wise well a bit of a north-south contrast again minus 2, minus 3
01:22even in towns and cities across the south. Whereas further north 5, 6 degrees
01:26maybe some pockets of frost in rural spots but in the countryside in the
01:30south we could be down as low as minus 5 or minus 6 so a very frosty and foggy
01:36start to Wednesday morning so bear that in mind for your morning commute. Also
01:40bear in mind the winds will be picking up across northwest Scotland a very
01:44very blustery day here. We do have a Met Office yellow warning in place across
01:49the Highlands and parts of the northwest of the mainland gusts of 70 perhaps 75
01:53miles an hour and late in the day those strong winds will be joined by a band of
01:57pretty intense rain. Those winds could cause some disruption certainly to the
02:02transport network bridges may be affected and ferry crossings as well. Now
02:06that rain will get into the far northwest but most places will have a
02:10dry day and again for England and Wales generally another day of sparkling
02:14sunshine once that fog has cleared. Further north there will be more cloud
02:18and there will be that strengthening wind again parts of the northeast may
02:22get to double figures but generally we're looking at 7 to 9 degrees Celsius
02:26again through Wednesday evening temperatures will drop sharply across
02:30the south. A band of rain sinks southwards there will be some snow for a
02:34time across northern Scotland's mostly over hills and that rain will then kind
02:39of fizzle out as it pushes its way into northern England and Wales during
02:42Wednesday evening. That is due to this weather fronts pushing south but still
02:47bumping up against high pressure. High pressure remains the dominant feature
02:50of the weather throughout this week keeping things largely dry as this
02:54weather front topples in though during Friday that will bring slightly milder
02:59air so although Thursday will again be chilly by the time we get to the weekend
03:03it is looking a bit milder but I suspect it will be fairly cloudy by then as well
03:08but high pressure keeping things mostly dry for many of us as we head towards
03:12the weekend. More details on all of that if you follow us across social media if
